I just got the ability to bypass electronic locks which makes certain missions quite a bit easier. Another 8 skillpoints and I'll be able to hand-crack safes as well.

I am gunning for lockpick expert too. Together with C4, no doors can't be unlocked.

Had a really weird bug for almost an hour earlier, I couldn't join any games ('Waiting For Game...') until I'd restarted twice and restarted the router three times.

Actually, this has happened to me a couple of time, I never restarted, but I always just assumed it was my network.

Not a whole lot going on with the game, but there's been a few updates since the last post nearly a month ago. There was an overhaul on weapons and skills, so you can see the actual numbers behind them rather than bar graphs and vague descriptions.

Of particular interest is today's update, which adds a casino temporarily where you can drop your Off-Shore funds for cards. I finally got a couple of weapon mods I'd been looking for since the game began this way. This is probably the big one, in case anyone wanted to drop $25 million in Off-Shore cash for each extra card.

You can also join the Payday 2 group today (This weekend?) and get an incredibly ugly mask.

I've actually been wondering - does anybody have an idea as to what the flat-out highest paying job is? Not in terms of efficiency - I'm asking about sheer size of numbers. Include loot bags whee applicable. For reference the highest I've seen was framing frames overkill pro, giving ~1 million spending and ~4 million offshore cash.

It's probably framing frame. Firestarter overkill pro might be better if enough weapon bags spawn and you get loot in the FBI evidence room and you open up all the deposit boxes on day 3.

(Also yay people on B12 still play)

All of the 3-day jobs pay pretty well, but Framing Frame just takes so long to stealth that it's almost not worth it with all the times you have to restart because "whoops, set off the alarm". No matter how good your crew is, it relies a lot on luck. It's gotten to the point where I don't do Framing Frame anymore. The stealth is too wonky since the game is balanced and designed for combat. It's just not fun.

Rats is probably the quickest if you're willing to blow up the lab on the first day, rush the apartments on the second day, and steal all the money on the third day. You could probably rush two rounds of Rats in the time it takes you to do one round of Framing Frame and get something close to double the payout and experience.

Not the BEST paying, but overkill pro bank heist with all bags taken, and deposit boxes opened, and ATMs cracked, can net you over a million in spending cash.

Did this game ever get the upgradable hideout they mentioned before release?

I really don't get the issues people have with stealthing framing frames. I personally find it hilariously easy - if you have dominate, smooth talker and aced cleaner you just have to take it slowly and patiently - which is pretty much how stealth actually works. It basically comes down to letting guards come to you in the first day and, on the third day, being careful guards are on their own or not in camera vision when you kill them. I got the hang of it a while ago and I've solo'd it three times since without any resets and gotten all the gold and the like. It's really not that hard, and I've not had issues with it for the most part. There are some specific circumstances in which it's impossible to solo the normal way, but they're very rare and to be honest you could pretty much work around it anyway.

I just find stealthing incredibly boring and unrewarding. I'm spec'd for it with dominator and smooth talker just in case, but it's one of those things where I'd rather spend my time shooting stuff and having fun rather than reliving horrible stealth memories from action games.

Not yet.

I got the game and I've been playing with a friend.  The game seems pretty heavily balanced for four players, we've been doing Jewelry Store pretty well, but the first bank heist is almost impossible so far with two.

Any tips for doing it with two players?

Find two more players?  ;)

Stealth missions might work well. They're a lot more fun when you're organized. And most of them are entirely possible with one person; they'd probably be much easier with two people.

If your heart's set on combat missions, try bringing along the AI. The game only lets you bring 2 AI allies, but that's enough to max out a two-human team. They're not amazing or anything, but they'll happily pick up some of the slack in firepower.

We've been trying stealth but we haven't quite gotten the hang of things yet and since we're still low level we're stuck with loud equipment.  Plus no dominator/smooth talker/etc yet.

Is the unconvincing pager response thing a random chance or does it happen if you try to use the pager too many times?  Because I remember smooth talker saying it gives you extra pager uses and it seems like random chance would be kind of bullshit (We had it happen in the jewelry store.  Went in completely silent, secured the backrooms and killed the guards, we were just getting around to taking the loot when suddenly the game was like "Alright that was all really good, but fuck it.  Cops are coming."

Without smooth talker, you can only answer two pagers. With it, you can answer four. It's important to note that if one teammate has smooth talker and the other doesn't, the guy who doesn't can answer the first two, but he can't answer any after that. Only the guy with smooth talker can. Very rarely I've heard of it messing up, but I'm pretty sure those stories were just a guy who stopped answered the page before it was finished rather than a bug.

You also have to be careful because having people freak out can cause a chain reaction as other people witness the people freaking out, and then more people witness those people freaking out. On most street heists, four civilians or so will spawn and walk the streets unless you tie them up or kill them. If you don't tie someone down, certain civilians will get brave and try calling the police. Keep an eye out for people that tend to move around a lot or don't listen very well. I think they tend to be the ones that try to play hero, but it's hard to tell.

I've found in the Jewelry heist it usually isn't even necessary to go into the back room, much less the alleyway. Just melee the one guard that usually hangs out in front, answer his pager while your buddy handles the civvies, and start running jewels to the car. Keep people in the street down and watch for guards in the alleys or civilians coming up from the back room and you're golden; no extra pagers need to be answered. I've solo'd it in stealth before with only hitting the front room; with two guys it should be much easier.

If you desperately need some cards or just want to rush through some missions, do Four Stores and bring an ECM jammer. You can hack the ATMs and get $22k from them, which will instantly summon the escape van. Sometimes he shows up before the first assault, making it an easy and consistent way to farm mods and stuff.

And trust me when I say that the game will get easier. Just ditch the starting weapons ASAP and maybe find a couple more people you don't mind playing with. Despite everyone's complaints, most of the randoms I've run into haven't been that bad and the size of my friends' list has doubled since I started playing. I'd offer to play with you guys, but I'm level 80-something.
