I'm going pure Technician right now. Sentry guns are awesome, and better drilling is useful on the few maps that have drillable things.  :)

How does one get C4 to use? It says something about using tripmines, but I never receive an option to place on the safe.

Sadly, you need the Satchel Charge upgrade. Which requires too many levels to be available in the beta (level cap of 25, or so I've been told). Without any awesome trip mine upgrades, I've actually switched to the sentry - it's arguably more reliable, since it doesn't need to be replaced every time it gets triggered, and it's inarguably more awesome.

Also, if anyone else is interested in joining the beta, let me know! I've got a beta key I haven't been able to give away yet.  ;)

I might like one if the people down-thread have already got them.

Any beta keys still available? I'm probably going to buy it but I want to try it out first.

Is there a steam group for the Bay 12 Payday 2 players?

I'd be happy to join some people, I've shot up so many levels and it's just my first day playing the game.

There were 2 updates today that brought in a ton of improvements to what is shaping up to really be an awesome game. Progress was reset but now weapon mods drop a lot more often and cash drops have their own cards. The average cash payout seems to be $12,000 extra now.

More money was badly needed, imo. Glad they did that. I'm trying to not overplay the game too much but so far I am enjoying this about as much as I enjoyed Counter-Strike back in it's heyday. The pick-up teams are not too bad. I even managed to join a PUG that successfully pulled off a stealth job on The Jewelry Store on Overkill. It took ~15 minutes and netted close to $200K in on-hand cash. :)

Has anyone found any skill builds that they like? I've been going part Enforcer and part Ghost.
Also, I seem to always fail in PUGs on the Rats mission. That one can get really messy. :)

I use the ghost build, and my first 4 points are spent on the more money skills, and then just work up the left side towards lockpicking. It is a terrible build for combat, so I have to buy the CAR 4 with red dot ASAP and keep body armor on for the missions that have a lot of combat, like the night club.

Rats is very hard if you don't coordinate well on the first mission. (Even then, staying alive for 3 full cooking rounds is tough as nails.) Screwing up the first mission all but guarantees failing the second as well. I'm not certain what impact succeeding on the second mission has, but yeah... two failures really hurts the payday. It helps to get one of each ingredient on 3 separate people, then designate one person to handle each cooking round - this way, you don't have people stepping on each other's toes. Plus, knowing who's responsible if the lab explodes encourages players to not make rash judgments.  ;D

A fun fact I discovered: you can steal back the meth after the second mission. This obviously angers the gang (if they weren't already hostile), but each bag is worth $100,000, so stealing back all 3 is worth a tidy little sum. And the bags are pretty close to the escape vehicle, so it's not exactly tough to reclaim them and escape!

I'm very much in love with this game, although I would like to see a few more multi-day missions and a few more ways of completing things quietly.

I'd also like to see just a tad more customisation - the initial hideout visit hints at possibly being able to customise it in the future ("I'll let you decorate it soon..." or words similar) but what about being able to have a mini 'clan' in the form of a gang, the ability to name it and all able to visit the hideout (at the same time) and contribute to it's growth.

I got really lucky today and got several real good groups, despite being the only one in a couple that had a mic. We managed to do Watchdogs and the Bank Heist on Overkill, as well as Rats on Very Hard. Made it to level 30 (The new level cap) in the course of an evening.

I'm looking forward to the full release, but I hope that they wrap up some of the loose ends. The fact you only get a single Payday bonus for a multi-day mission seems a little odd, since it encourages grinding quick heists, like the Jewelry Store over and over again. It gets to the point where if you do the Jewelry Store a bunch of times you won't have money for the mods and masks you get, but if you mix it up and do a little bit of everything you don't have enough to spend the money you've earned on. I kinda wish things worked a bit differently on that front.

Only two weeks until we get the full game. I'm pretty exciting.
