In close range SMGs are instant death to just about anyone. As a sniper they make a great secondary because they have good pickup rates and if you are sniping properly you shouldn't need to use it too much. Fire control and headshots will get you a long way with them too

@BurnedToast

First off, find me a 40-dam when silenced assault rifle (that is not DLC, at least, I can't speak for DLC content). Dealing the same damage as that is pretty damn good by me :P

7.62 has, IIRC, 30 less ammo, so a full mag less, than the AMCAR, at 30-90 when full. Meanwhile, it is powerful enough to be effective fired single-shot, and speaking of which, powerful enough at my setup to have a bodyshot 1HK on a blue SWAT, whereas AMCAR would require more spraying and thus more ammo per kill. All with a silencer and decent concealability.

Why does it need to be silenced? there's no reason to ever silence your primary weapon. You are hurting yourself for no reason.

AMCAR is one of the worst weapons in the game, it's not really something you should compare other guns to. It's the starting newbie gun for a reason.

In close range SMGs are instant death to just about anyone. As a sniper they make a great secondary because they have good pickup rates and if you are sniping properly you shouldn't need to use it too much. Fire control and headshots will get you a long way with them too

There's only 3 SMGs that can hit 40 damage, Uzi, Patchett, and specops

Patchett is ok but the ammo is not so good

Specops has painfully bad accuracy

Uzi is really good, can be modded to hit 40 damage + have perfect accuracy and very high stability, and still have decentish concealment

Kobus and Swedish K can hit 40 on the weapons screen, but it's a lie - they do 39.5, the game rounds it up on the weapons screen but down in game (for some stupid reason)

Hitting 40 for your secondary is not absolutely 100% critical but it's a pretty big and noticeable difference in power.

I'd like to find a use for the Nagant rifle against the other sniper rifles, but it just feels wrong. Maybe it's my scope, or maybe it just feels really inaccurate, I'unno.

All sniper rifles are hardcoded to be 100% accurate when you're aiming down the scope (or using ironsight on nagant) and not moving, regardless of the accuracy stat.

I like to use the nagant with ironsights as a DMR for dodge builds, since you can just barely hit the cap with a high concealment secondary like gruber.

And the beautiful thing about payday is that just about any weapon can be made feasible. I'm a huge fan of a slightly modded JP36, and that's despite having all the weapon DLC - it's very much my close quarters assault rifle of choice.

I guess it's true for overkill, but some weapons are just so bad it makes me sad to see people use them even if anything can work if you and your team are good enough.

Sniper rifles scopes have sway while where the bullet goes seems to not (instead always going to he centre of the screen), so if you're aiming using the scope then you're liable to be off by a little bit.

Are you, uh, are you sure about the sniper accuracy bit? Do you have to be not moving for a long span of time, or not making rapid shots? I know I move a lot, but the Nagant feels painfully inaccurate even when I'm not, and I've tried tacking other snipers with other sniper rifles down the scope with absolutely no effect. It's uncanny.

It seems I was not correct, the guy who datamined the info apparently messed up in the way it's calculated.

However, they still do "cheat" the system and if you are stationary, they are close enough to perfectly accurate that they are effectively 100% accurate (especially at the ranges the game takes place). It's only when you are moving that it really becomes noticeable.

But the game sort of does simulate breathing, and it works kind of screwy with sniper sights..

^^^ this

Long version is in the long guide, TL;DR version is up close sometimes the bullet does not go to the sight because of the way they implemented breathing. It's a problem with all sights but the higher the zoom the more noticeable it is.

Which might be the problem you have.

Welp, those turret vans have doomed any chance of completing the tabula rasa weekly for me.

Why does this fucking game put out a 200meg patch every day? If I was paying for my bandwidth, I'm pretty sure Payday 2 alone would bankrupt me.

Spring Break. New shit's added daily, hence the patching.

We are doomed. It's just that whatever is going to kill us all just happens to be, from a scientific standpoint, pretty frickin' awesome.

Can't just be Spring Break. It patches more than any game I own in my Steam library.

Worth noting ECMs have.... interesting effects. Not that that helps tabula rasa, but still.

Cross-posting from own thread. How to get the mask below.

Got the Tids mask in the Car Shop heist. Had to do it solo (people were being stupid and activated computers at random) and had a lot of close calls in previous attempts (once, I did it in 4:05 (needs to be in less than 4)), but I eventually did it.

The heist itself is pretty easy even in solo stealth. And I am pretty bad in Payday 2 stealth in general (haven't acquired the samurai mask from shadow raid, for example). Doing a mask run in the car shop pretty much means you need to roll well in the random parts and ignore the "stealth only" part.

How many days until the Hoxton Revenge again?

The revenge is here. It was... a bit underwhelming, I feel. Is the traitor randomized? I've yet to run it a second time, but I wouldn't put it past them to randomize it.
