So, as it turns out, The Diamond and Clover are to be paid - 7$ for the former, 5$ for the latter.

I'm not exactly impressed with Overkill right now.

You should probably at least wait till tomorrow when we get more information about what exactly is in the packs before you get upset  ::)

Presumably the heist in one and Clover in the other, likely with some additional weapon mods, masks, paint and maybe weapon or two in either.

Since one is "the diamond heist" and one is "clover character pack"...

Seems a reasonable assumption, despite the proverbs about making those.

That's an expensive character, considering the last two were free. It's also a bit of a middle finger to any women that might want to play the game. "Want to be a different gender? Better pay up!"

Now, if they throw in a bunch of high concealability weapons to compliment my high dodge build I'd be ecstatic. Even better if they do another skill tree like they did with Hoxton. Heck, I'd probably get it on the spot, and I haven't bought a single PD2 DLC at full price.

But if it's just the character I'll wait for another sale that brings all the DLC down to $1 again, if I get it at all.

I do really like the world building going on with the new heist though. I'd love to see more of the Payday world get built on. It seems like nothing happens there besides four dudes running around killing cops, and the Diamond Heist is the first real hint that I've seen of something outside of the Payday crew. Hopefully they continue with that trend.

Well, for one we know that L4D happens in the same world. Also, the movie John Wick happens in it.

Also, think of it this way: It's coming out 9 days from Christmas. It'll be on sale very very quickly.

There was also the web series, which expands a fair bit on the premise of crime.net, but that seems to have finished.

I now want the next halloween heist to consist of the start of the L4D zombie breakout.

Ustxu Iceraped the Frigid Crystal of Slaughter was a glacier titan. It was the only one of its kind. A gigantic feathered carp composed of crystal glass. It has five mouths full of treacherous teeth, enormous clear wings, and ferocious blue eyes. Beware its icy breath! Ustxu was associated with oceans, glaciers, boats, and murder.

I believe the Crew also saved the world from that very same outbreak. I forget the details.

Hum, that was in Payday : the Heist. The first one. It was a mission called No Mercy
Basically, it was a mission in a hospital (same one as in L4D more or less, and you could even see Bill), you had to find a precise patient, and extract blood from him. Then you take an elevator, and you end in a room where there's corpses in a morgue moaning (though they are covered) and everything is on fire because the army fired missiles on the hospital.
I wish they added it to Payday 2, since it was a very nice mission (the closest one to how it plays in Payday 2 honestly, what with controlling civies, destroying cameras, fake sentries, answering phones, listening to a speech to know which patient, cutting the right wire, etc)

It was definitely the best Payday 1 mission. It just felt so epic, like the gang had gotten into something way over their heads and were just trying to survive the consequences. The game definitely needs expand on the whole "not what it seems" and unintended consequences direction that they seemed to be headed with the gang acting as mercenaries for different shady characters. The closest they've gotten was "As usual, Vlad was short on the intel. There's cameras and guards."

I'd like more of "you've pissed off the entire world and now they're nuking you" missions.

No mercy heist in payday 1 is non-canon, so payday games probably don't actually take place in the same game universe.
