Prove it by showing a precognition spell. Have each of them pick something (a number, a name, an event ...), and guess it correctly. Then make up a tragic back-story and mention that a god (of pathetic peace lovers terrified of battle? There must be one that fits) gave you a dream to round up helpers for the Heroic Cause.

You tell the INDIVIDUALS to decide on a COURSE OF ACTION or to think of a CERTAIN THING, and then perform a RITUAL OF DIVINATION. You SEE INTO THE FUTURE MANY TIMES, and after STANDING AROUND for several minutes, you attempt to RECRUIT.

You turn to the person with MAGICAL POTENTIAL and inform them that they were thinking about their IDLE DAYDREAM to become some sort of SORCEROUS SWASHBUCKLER. Amazed by your CORRECT GUESS, the INDIVIDUAL enlists in the ASSORTED MINIONS as a PLUCKY APPRENTICE. You speak to the LUCKY IDIOT, asserting that his thoughts are of the NUMBER 42. He nods, but refuses to accept this evidence, since he is an IDIOT.

Lastly, you turn to the person with SEETHING FURY and INITIATE STRIFE.

Round 1:
The FURIOUS INDIVIDUAL swings at the WIZARD-HERO!
The WIZARD-HERO appears behind the FURIOUS INDIVIDUAL!
The WIZARD-HERO summons a WIZARDLY DRUBBING STICK and administers a SOUND THRASHING to the FURIOUS INDIVIDUAL!

Round 2:
The FURIOUS INDIVIDUAL attempts to grab the DRUBBING STICK!
The WIZARD-HERO steps back and continues the SOUND THRASHING!
The FURIOUS INDIVIDUAL gives up!
The WIZARD-HERO administers a CALMING PAP to the FURIOUS INDIVIDUAL!
The FURIOUS INDIVIDUAL ACCEDES!

The FURIOUS INDIVIDUAL joins the ASSORTED MINIONS as a SQUIRE OF RAGE!
Several GENERIC NPC's join the ASSORTED MINIONS as GENERIC MINIONS!

With this being settled, you leave the LUCKY IDIOT behind, and proceed to the ROTTING PALACE. As you reach it, you are ACCOSTED by an unlead HOPLITE UNIT, who inquire as to your INTENTIONS. You tell them you have regained the GLOBE OF ABJURATION from an ELF SYMPATHIZER and that as a WIZARD-HERO, you are invoking your rights to PALAVER with the HUMAN BARON. The HOPLITE UNIT informs you that your STABBY INFANTRY and GENERIC MINIONS must remain outside the ROTTING PALACE, but that your HONORARY BATMAN, DEVOTED RETAINER, and PLUCKY APPRENTICE can continue. Not feeling like attempting EXPLOSIVE PERSUASION, you ACCEDE to the REASONABLE DEMANDS and proceed into the ROTTING PALACE.

The SINISTER SENESCHAL in the ENTRANCE HALL bids you WELCOME, and explains that the HUMAN BARON is currently ILL/INDISPOSED, but that the DAILY ERRANDS are in his CAPABLE HANDS. You experience SERIOUS DOUBT as to this, but wisely SAY NOTHING. You hold up the GLOBE OF ABJURATION and suggest that such an IMPORTANT DEVICE is very valuable to you, but that you are willing to BARTER for its RETURN. The SINISTER SENESCHAL appears to be DISCOMBOBULATED by this, and summons an ELITE GUARD UNIT to keep you company while he consults with the HUMAN BARON. You are NOT IMPRESSED, and wait for the HUMAN BARON. Before long, the HUMAN BARON enters the ENTRANCE HALL and sits on the IRON THRONE, the SINISTER SENESCHAL standing at his RIGHT HAND.

The HUMAN BARON issues his FOND THANKS for the return of the GLOBE OF ABJURATION, and asks for an EXPLANATION. You tell him that an ELVEN SYMPATHIZER had ABSCONDED from the DECAYING CITY with the GLOBE, and that you LIBERATED IT from his LIFELESS CORPSE. You further ask the PURPOSE of this GLOBE, and the HUMAN BARON tells you it is part of the city's DEFENSIVE SPELLS preventing the ELVEN ELEMENTALISTS from causing MASSIVE DAMAGE to the city. You inquire as to the current state of the city if the GLOBE was supposed to be HELPING, and the HUMAN BARON explains that the damage happened ONLY YESTERDAY, and the return of the GLOBE has saved the DECAYING CITY. He asks what sort of BOON you require in exchange for its SAFE RETURN.

Do you...
a) Tell him that you desire to RULE THE CITY as his new LIEGE LORD
b) Tell him that it was a matter of HONOR and that you do not desire a BOON
c) Ask for an ELITE UNIT to help kill the ARROGANT ELVES
d) Suggest that being MADE WELCOME with a HILL where you can make a WIZARD TOWER will be BOON ENOUGH
e) Inquire as to the location of the TREASURY
f) Get permission to DESECRATE THE CRYPTS in search of POTENT TREASURE
g) something ELSE?

I think D: We KNOW that our abode is FATED to be a tower. Furthermore, we have proven to be able to overcome those who overcame the city to steal it to begin with, so who better to GUARD the VALUABLE OBJECT?
f: but i'm sure that he would know of a location of some crypts other than his own.

Also, I am experiencing SIGNIFICANT DOUBT that "BLEAK, full of POVERTY, and RATHER DIRTY." happen overnight.

I think we should express MINOR CONCERN that the HUMAN BARON's ASSORTED MINIONS can be accurately described as MOTLEY.

Clearly, he is talking about some of the RUINED parts of the city and the ADDITIONAL RUBBLE. It's sort of hard to tell LONG NEGLECT and ELVEN SHENANIGANS apart when the city is such a FECULENT SHITHOLE.

You tell the HUMAN BARON that as a WIZARD-HERO, returning the GLOBE OF ABJURATION was a matter of HONOR. You say that a BOON is not needed, but that it would be REALLY NICE to be given a HILL and the location of some ANCIENT CRYPTS that nobody would mind your SHAMELESS PLUNDERING. The HUMAN BARON gives you a RELIEVED GRIN, and tells you that to the side of the city is an ANCIENT BARROW that would serve both purposes. You take this as EXCELLENT NEWS and are also mildly worried by the fact that nobody else has engaged in DESECRATION. You mull this over as the ELITE GUARD and the GUARD CAPTAIN walk the GLOBE OF ABJURATION to the RUN-DOWN CHURCH.

However, another fact concerns you far more than that: you suspect the BARON'S FORCES are a MOTLEY GROUP that could not withstand the ELVEN SIEGES. You ask the HUMAN BARON as to the DISPOSITION of his FORCES, and are pleasantly surprised to learn that they are at least HALFWAY COMPETENT. He INNOCENTLY WONDERS if you are interested in TAKING SIDES and PROTECTING YOUR FELLOW HUMANS. You point out the WINDOW towards the RAGING FOREST FIRE and ask what he thinks. He seems HIGHLY SURPRISED by this, and pauses to listen to the SINISTER SENESCHAL. After a moment of PRIVATE CONSULTATION, the HUMAN BARON asks you what you were THINKING. You BLATANTLY LIE, and he ACCEDES to your COMPLETE BULLSHIT. You are then DISMISSED and REPEATEDLY THANKED, and set out towards the ANCIENT BARROW in order to erect your WIZARD TOWER just outside the CITY WALLS.

You are yourself, much later in the same day. You are standing on a hill far to the south OFF TO THE SIDE of your present location, surrounded by a HENGE OF ROCK an ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. The COMICALLY OVERSIZED WIZARD TENT is hovering laying on the ground. As you begin to perform a DIGNIFIED WIZARDLY DANCE  RITUAL OF TRANSMUTATION, the SPECIAL FABRIC begins to TRANSMUTE into the same kind of STONE present in the HENGE CITY. As you watch and dance OBSERVE AND CHANT, the COMICALLY OVERSIZED WIZARD TENT begins to grow into the hill BARROW, shifting its form into a TOTALLY NON-PHALLIC WIZARD TOWER that has a COMMANDING VIEW of the surrounding area. The PLUCKY APPRENTICE OOHS and AAHS.

It occurs to you that it would be REALLY COOL to make the WIZARD TOWER into a FLYING WIZARD TOWER, but you appear to be SHORT ON MANA because of VAGUE SHENANIGANS that occurred.  You feel a PIME TARADOX assert itself over your life, and CURSE LOUDLY. After ordering the DEVOTED RETAINER to order the ASSORTED MINIONS to prepare the WIZARD TOWER, you IMBIBE further BEAN-DERIVED ENERGY CONCOTION (this time, without the CREAM but with more HONEY) and TOKE further WIZARDLY HERBS.

Feeling VAGUELY NAUSEOUS from the TIME JACKASSERY and BEAN-DERIVED ENERGY CONCOCTION you decide to...
a) DESECRATE the BARROW
b) Visit the RICHEST BUILDING
c) Visit the CHURCH
d) Go talk to the GUARD CAPTAIN
e) Go visit the KOOKY WITCH
f) Attempt to SLEEP until LATE MORNING

[I'd like to take this moment to say thanks, guys. I'm currently in the process of writing a novel series, and when I get all depression about whether it will sell, reading that people like my writing and games helps me keep going. :)

Also, since I forgot to point these mechanics out, there are three methods of regaining Mana.

a) Wait 15 minutes to regain 1 mana
b) Cast Sorcerous Might, a blood magic spell that exchanges HP for MP at the rate of 6 HP for 5 MP and prevents all forms of healing for at least 5 minutes
c) Initialize a SOULBURN, which trades 10 maximum MP and 5 HP for 15 MP per burn, at the price of your natural restoration to be 1 MP / 30 minutes. The maximum MP cap returns at a rate of 10 MP per day.

There is a WIZARDLY POWER offshoot of ALCHEMICAL BLOODSTONE that restores mana instead of health, but you currently have not researched it.]

Normally, you would DESECRATE with CHILDLIKE GLEE, but it's been a long day, filled with MURDER and EXPLOSIONS. There are several ways to GARNER MANA, but you don't really feel like HURTING YOURSELF for POWER. Therefore,  you decide that it's time for a WIZARDLY NAP. Which is basically just a REGULAR NAP, but since you're a WIZARD-HERO, it is OBVIOUSLY a WIZARD NAP. Before entering your WIZARD TOWER to go sleep atop it, you decide that the LIBRARIAN isn't much good without a GRAND LIBRARY. You beckon the OFFICIAL LIBRARIAN and inform your minion that it is now their job to establish a GRAND LIBRARY. The OFFICIAL LIBRARIAN points out that you have ONE BOOK, and that it won't take long to STORE IT. Realizing the LIBRARIAN has a point, you immediately summon a LOT OF BOOKS. The OFFICIAL LIBRARIAN is not sure whether to be PLEASED or DISMAYED, and you leave the OFFICIAL LIBRARIAN to to the work, sending a MENTAL MESSAGE to the DEVOTED RETAINER to order the GENERIC MINIONS to HAUL BOOKS.

It's not like THINGS can HAPPEN. After all, the BARROW has lain DORMANT for an INDEFINITELY LONG TIME. That, and you're not entirely positive where the ENTRANCE is. After ordering the METASTAB KNIGHT to set up a NIGHTLY WATCH, you proceed to the WIZARD TOWER and ASCEND.

You are a DREAM TARADOX WIZARD-HERO on a BLACK SAND BEACH. You're not entirely sure WHY, but decide to GO WITH IT. You note a series of MYSTERIOUS FOOTPRINTS and begin to FOLLOW them. Before much longer, you note a SECOND SET OF FOOTPRINTS going the OTHER WAY, and realize that you have walked AROUND THE DREAM WORLD. You turn around and WALK THE OTHER WAY until you have performed a TOTAL CIRCUMNAGIVATION. There is now only ONE SET OF FOOTPRINTS. You consider that THIS IS STUPID, and will yourself to AWAKEN. You do not, and decide that it is time for a REFRESHING SWIM in the SEA OF DREAMS.

You enjoy your REFRESHING SWIM, and emerge from the water to find an OMINOUS DOOR. Spurred by IRRESISTIBLE CURIOSITY, you open the OMINOUS DOOR and ENTER.

You AWAKEN, feeling REFRESHED in the LATE MORNING. For some reason, you are OUTSIDE the WIZARD TOWER. You prepare to summon the BEAN-DERIVED CONCOCTION, but realize that your DEVOTED RETAINER is already holding a STEAMING MUG and a BRITISH DETECTIVE PIPE. Thanking the DEVOTED RETAINER, you go about your MORNING RITUAL while questioning the METASTAB KNIGHT and OFFICIAL LIBRARIAN as to the WHEREABOUTS of the ENTRANCE. The OFFICIAL LIBRARIAN leads you to the BACKSIDE OF THE BARROW and points at a LARGE BOULDER. You TRANSMUTE the LARGE BOLDER into assorted SMALL PEBBLES, and order the DEVOTED RETAINER to order the GENERIC MINIONS to HAUL PEBBLES while you imbibe BEAN-DERIVED CONCOCTION. After doing so, you order the PLUCKY APPRENTICE to form a UNIT with you, and have the METASTAB KNIGHT and the STABBY INFANTRY enter the BARROW in front of you. You cast a LIGHT SPELL, and enter the BARROW.

You enter, proceed down the HALLWAY, and come to a FORK, lit by GHOSTLY TORCHES. The STABBY INFANTRY is in the LEAD.

You decide that such a CHOICE should be left up to FATE. You engage the WIZARDLY BILATERAL ENTROPY ELUCIDATOR. To the uneducated, it looks like a simple COIN FLIP, but a WIZARDLY ELUCIDATOR is actually a SOPHISTICATED DEVICE that allows FATE and ENTROPY to exert their INEXORABLE and METAPHORIC WILL in WAYS UNKNOWN.

The WIZARDLY ELUCIDATOR comes up as TAILS, which you interpret as GO RIGHT. You order the STABBY INFANTRY to proceed, and enter into a PARTICULARLY CRACKED ROOM. More important than the decor is the presence of HOSTILE UNDEAD, who immediately INITIATE STRIFE.

Round 1:
The SKELETON STABBERS 1 stab at the STABBY INFANTRY with their RUSTY SPEARS!
The STABBY INFANTRY shares 12 HP damage among its MEMBERS!
The SKELETON STABBERS 2 stab at the STABBY INFANTRY with their RUSTY SPEARS!
The STABBY INFANTRY forms a SHIELDWALL and takes no damage!
The SWORDSKELETON INFANTRY 1 swings at the STABBY INFANTRY with their RUSTY SWORDS!

Well, that was a WORTHY BATTLE. Your ASSORTED MINIONS have grown only larger, and you proceed into the NEXT ROOM after noting BLUE MUSHROOMS growing in the corner.

Upon entering, you order the STABBY INFANTRY to guard the DOOR, and take in the ROYAL BURIAL CHAMBER. The first thing you see is a NICE RUG before a DAMAGED SHRINE. There are TACKY GOLD-VENEER PILLARS that have fallen. Two of the COFFINS have obviously been LOOTED, but the OLD CHESTS remain INTACT. There is also a LARGE TOMB that has an UNREADABLE HEADSTONE on it that was clearly too HEAVY to be LOOTED.
