Question about a previous Humble Bundle: I just added the Civilization IV complete pack from the Sid Meier bundle to my Steam. All the games appear twice, and they appear separately. I thought beyond the sword, colonization, and warlords were all expansions to Civ IV? How do I do this? Just download the base game, then download all the expansions, and they will appear in the game? Or do I have to play the expansions separately? I ask before doing because my internet connection is painfully slow, and this will probably take all day to do.

Also, why do they appear twice? I have two copies of each but one copy says it's not available for my platform. Did they give me copies of the Mac versions too or something?

One copy is for Mac, other for PC. Dunno why they did it like this. As for which to use, get BtS, it includes everything from the other two. Again, no idea why it's that way.

So do I need the base game? Or can I just install beyond the sword and it runs stand-alone?

Thanks!

It's standalone. I've been equally baffled myself when I was installing it ;)

Thank you... I guess the two hours I just spent downloading the base game were wasted, then. What a strange system for expanding a game. Downloading beyond the sword now... Maybe I'll get to play tomorrow. : )

I suppose that's because Civ 4 was not designed with the DLC system in mind. And/or because they wanted to let people play the game without some features of the add-ons.

I think it's more a case that it was not designed with Steam in mind. I bought Civ4+Expansions when it came out on discs. You had to have the original installed, they were not standalones. I think Steam just takes care of this for you. If you click to install BtS it'll install everything that's needed for it. I've seen this with other games that share resources as well. I'm thinking that if you installed BtS and then tried to go back and install original Civ4 the download would be a lot smaller since you'd already have most of the assets from the BtS install.

New Humble Weekly.

I like point-and-clicks. I'm not good at them, but I like them anyway.

Specifically, the Capsule bundle has what appears to be interesting at a glance. (Been working my way down its options.)
Also, Happy Hour on the Interstellar Bundle.

Anybody know anything about Hero of the Kingdom? Not sure what to make of it based on the screenshots.

Ooookay, it kind of plays as the boringest thing ever. It's like resource management, with the resources all spelled out in front of you, and Eye-Spy, with finding extra resources that aren't really necessary.

I thought I was stuck in some tutorial, but unless it goes on for an hour without changing... ick.

Deponia's been pretty well received. I sort of hate the protagonist though. Love Edna and Harvey, though it isn't as good from a technical standpoint.

The Humble Indie Bundle 11 has been updated to add Fez, Starseed Pilgrim, and Beatbuddy: Tale of the Guardians. I've been wanting to try the first two for ages, and the third one looks pretty nice as well. Glad I beat the average when it was cheaper, to get Antichamber!

The current Groupees Shinyloot bundle looks pretty great too. I just picked up the $1 games. I've been wanting to try Fortix2 for a while so that should be fun.

Holy crudbuckets, that is good!
Buying it now. I'd pay that price for Postal alone, and the other games look great, too. :D

Ugh. Okay, I just tried to sign up for Shinyloot to redeem my games and it won't let me. It sends me an activation email, but when I click the link it says "unable to activate your account." No other information, no way to resend the email. I tried making a different account with a different email address, and this time I didn't even get the email. Maybe something is wonky with their system... Is anyone else able to sign up, or having the same problems? I emailed support but I don't expect them to actually answer me anytime soon. I wanna play my games dammit!
