Maybe that's EA's whole plan.  Do this to get people to redownload origin now that it's not quite as bad as it used to be, and try to drum up some good faith at the same time.   More likely though the one moral employee at EA got out of their cage and did this before they got caught and put back in.

No, it's a conspiracy! They do this bundle, get the good will and publicity, get detractors to download Origin, then "update" it and put back all of its monitoring crap! A CONSPIRACY I SAY!

The only reason EA is pushing their games out in a bundle is because they want more people to use Origin. It's as simple as that. They've given away free origin games before, and this is just another case to get people to do it again. I personally wouldn't do it, as half of the games are extremely mediocre, and definitely not worth having bloated and intrusive DRM on your system.

Worst yet whenever they do have a good thing they ruin it.

The Sims 3 for example was flawed... very flawed and The Sims 2 was superior... Yet it was still functional and brought many genuine improvements to the series. Enter EA to under fund them, over work them, and try to rip us off constantly.

EA is the Empire of the videogame industry. I chose to distrust them by default.

If it had included Mass Effect 3, I might have been tempted. But it doesn't, so I'm not.

It just seems to be shameless promotion more than anything else.

but... so... cheap...

You don't need Orgin for most of the games.

The only game in this bundle I'd be interested in is the Sims. Can you run that through Steam and never have to download Origin?

Also of note is that only Dead Space 3, Battlefield 3, and The Sims 3 Starter Pack are exclusive to Origin, the other 5 include Steam keys.

That was my bad, but either way games with DRM in them definitely don't belong in the humble bundle. Besides, with the Sims 3 you're essentially buying a game missing many different kinds of assets that you'll have to buy as DLC, and for Battlefield 3 you'll get none of the DLC that's been released for the game included. So basically, EA is profiting by giving out games that aren't selling that well, and profiting by the potential DLC sales.

Either way, regardless of the DRM, this is a pretty lackluster humble bundle.

Just a warning for people who haven't used Origin before: I sold my Origin account for a sandwich. The moment you boot up Battlefield 3 and a Firefox/Chrome window opens all optimism you may have had will die.

That said, I never regretted buying Mirrors Edge.

Made a charity donation and got some steam keys in return. May one day bother with Origin to see what the Sims is like these days, but don't have time to play any of them yet so not really bothered about that aspect.

Weekly sale is up.

Botanicula, McPixel, The Showdown Effect, and Thomas Was Alone! If you pay more than the average, you'll also receive Amnesia: The Dark Descent!
I have Amnesia but have friends I'd love to inflict it on. Anyone know if the rest are worth it? Average is very low right now at $2.22.

Huh. Can't stand PewDiePie, but that's actually a good-looking selection. I've heard good things about Thomas Was Alone in particular.

It just looks random to me... Adventure, arthouse platformer, sidescroller action, first-person horror and whatever you'd call McPixel. Kind of want Botanicula though; I gave it a pass during the debut.

Also, this bundle makes me feel bad. On my list of things to get done today was to order a dozen cases of bottled water for the office.

Botanicula is most definitely worth it. The rest, I don't know, but Botanicula is one of my favorite all-time games (and my favorite all-time game soundtrack). It's suitable for casual gamers but worth playing even if you have high expectations of your games. Like all Czech-made ones it is well-crafted. Graphics, sound, atmosphere, and the puzzles are not difficult but they are fun and will make you smile. All the little details of it really make it shine. Even though I've beaten it already (and upon replay there's not much new to see) I still play it through sometimes just to enjoy the landscape and all the little creatures and sounds...

With the two Origin bundle bonus games being Origin only it would be funny if a lot of people paid one cent below their unlock price to intentionally not get them.
