A note: Money is no longer an issue, it's been fixed. The sameness of most prisons is still a problem, but I find that it's worth the $20

Prison Architect went up to 25 when it started at 20.

New Humble Bundle; Origin bundle:
Dead Space 1, 3
Burnout Paradise: The Ultimate Box
Mirror's Edge
Medal of Honor
Crysis 2 Maximum Edition
BTA -
Battlefield 3
Sims 3 + starter pack

I saw the word Origin and nearly barfed and decided to not touch this one with a 10ft pole. I've got enough games.

One thing to note is that EA/Origin are forfeiting their share of the profits to charity. So you're not really supporting them.

Also of note is that only Dead Space 3, Battlefield 3, and The Sims 3 Starter Pack are exclusive to Origin, the other 5 include Steam keys.

Hrmm, tolerable then.  I remember some junk about DLC weapons making Dead Space 3 unimmersive, and wouldn't touch Battlefield 3 anyway, and had already looked at Sims 3 for a bit at brother's (kinda all simmed out by now, really).

Edit: since you mentioned some were on steam, I looked thru SteamDB and I'm guessing the next week ones will be:
Dead Space 2
Bulletstorm

See http://steamdb.info/subs/page12/  (no big package for em all, and of course any Origin only ones I got no idea about. See that they were all added at the same time.)

1) EA gets 0 money from the sale.
2) Almost all games have steam keys.

I bought it and only activated the steam keys.

So has anybody tried using Origin, the platform? Any thoughts?

I'm screwing with it now. I got an Origin account a while ago (they were offering BF1942 for free if you signed up), but haven't actually launched Origin in a while. To be honest, it's not currently making a good impression, since code redemption is offline. Presumably, this is because a large number of people are, for the first time, actually using Origin.  ;)

Still, this is a pretty good looking bundle. And if EA doesn't get a penny out of it from me, I'm happy to abuse their infrastructure for a few hours. Who knows, I might even enjoy one of the games if the circumstances of my purchase absolve me of guilt towards supporting EA!

Are the Steam keys separate or do you have to redeem them all at once? I would rather not have Medal of Honor stuck to my account.

This EA Humble Bundle is great, coming from a complete EA detractor. I will probably never redeem anything on Origin but hey, I donated to the charities for some games and to say that I might consider supporting EA if they don't act like complete twats.

Yea this is completely unlike the EA I'm used to.  And while all the games on the list always illicited a 'meh' with me, at least now I can actually try them to see if they deserve the meh.

...also Sims 3, because Sims 2 unexpanded I found to be a very relaxing experience.  Hopefully 3 is the same way.  I consider it $10 to charity with saving me the trouble of finding my sims 2 cd next time I have the urge in return.  Win-win.

I can neuter origin well enough through registry or sandbox it if I decide it's being too intrusive for my tastes too, so I'm not too worried there.

EDIT: Actually looks like I won't need to.  I'm still suspicious of it, but during install it's suprisingly doing everything I tell it too.  Nothing in windows startup registry, like I expected it do do with background monitoring even when not running.  Sure as hell a lot diffrent than I remember origin being like last time I tried it.  It used to be evil.

Maybe that's EA's whole plan.  Do this to get people to redownload origin now that it's not quite as bad as it used to be, and try to drum up some good faith at the same time.   More likely though the one moral employee at EA got out of their cage and did this before they got caught and put back in.
