Dwarf Fortress for 3DS
« on: May 21, 2013, 03:06:21 pm »

I saw threads about Dwarf Fortress for a DS or DSI, it doesnt seem those consoles would be able to hold the giantic awesomeness of this game, but maybe a 3DS could have a try sometime?

PD: Sometime doesnt mean Soon :)

To run Dwarf Fortress on the DS all you have to do is run linux on it, then use DFTerm on a remote server, and connect over telnet. It's largely the same method for mobile phones and the like.

It's not the perfect solution, but it's the best you're going to get.

Something like the 3DS could be wonderful in this regard... just put a custom keyboard on the bottom screen and it could relay the keystrokes.  If you could somehow track the menu-states of the game or get confirmation of your keystrokes then you may be able to change the displayed options dynamically, just showing what menu options are available at that time rather than the full keyboard all the time.
