Stop. It increased rather drastically before the XBone announcement and is currently trading at the same price as the day the XBone 'controversies' erupted. It had no change on the price run. Enough of that. Microsoft was just playing it's PR games to bait and switch us with the silliness, and had no effect on shareholder sentiment. MSFT holders are not that squishy, mate.

Also, if what you claim were true in any way, it would've came back to pre-XBone announcement hype levels. Seriously. The stock price had not one impact on the game they played here, and if it did it would've supported their silliness, not made them back off. I'm a trader and follow MSFT every day. I figure I know a bit about the movement long-term.

It's literally the exact price it was the day of the announcement. All I'm saying is don't make up things like "the stock price has suffered" as a reason they did this typical 'backpedal' [especially when they're completely untrue].

There was plenty of reasons for them to, that definitely not being one of them. Either they saw the consumers hated most of the ideas and the implementation [Amazon polling and such], or it was bad PR for PR sake. Or a combination of both. Either way: Severely uninterested despite changes of ridiculous policy as my current PC has better specs than their 'next generation.'

PC is always ahead in specs. Occasionally it is defeated in some aspect, but consoles don't hardware update often enough to maintain any lead they get.

There are benefits to owning a console over a PC though, and the way MS were trying to sell their system before seemed almost like they were trying to remove a majority of those benefits.

The Xbone has dropped the "You must always be online, hur durrr" stance, along with the "NU GAEM SHAEREENG" thing. The console can now be played offline, the games can be freely shared and it is not region-locked anymore.


But that... kinect thing still scares the piss out of me. I'm sticking to my PC.

Nah, I'm kidding. There are several reasons why I don't like this "next generation". Some of it's aesthetics and gameplay (colourful fun games? Yeah, here, have one or two, while we spend most of our money on BROWNGRAYGRITTY and DRYDARKFANTASY, because that's what all of you want, right?), but it is mostly the lack of backwards compatibility that bugs me to no end. I think I'll skip these "new" consoles and get a PS3 for cheap.

Oh, and the Xbone won't support Xbox Live in my country. Fabulous.

You know, before the NSA thing, the Kinect was a very impressive piece of technology some people genuinely believed to be a futuristic look at voice and gesture commands.

Now it's just a spycamera so the NSA can watch you masturbate on the couch in high definition, because that's a valuable resource of intelligence compared to internet and phone, which can actually be transmitted over the 1.5 Mbps (yes, megaBITS, crap DSL) recommended minimum connection.

Needs to be mentioned somewhere in some history book as the most unfortunate product launch timing ever.

All I need to know about the XBOXOne is that the Elder Scrolls Online will be playable on it and that despite that I'm investing my money in a Windows 7 laptop in a few months, then an XBOX 360 a few months after that. The next-generation consoles outside of the Wii U just sound like the stuff that is going to kill console gaming in the years to come. At least that's what I think, but then again I'm still biased towards the Sega Genesis.

Most of the gaming community thought the Kinect was terrible when it first came out, you know. It's neat, but literally NOTHING noteworthy game-wise has been released for it so far. Small third-parties have managed to implement the technology for other uses so far, but they could of done the same thing without it honestly. Now, if the Kinect was not attached to a gaming device, and was made to be more than a gimmick, then I'd agree with you.

Secondly, people weren't freaking out about it due to the NSA scandal. Fun fact, here in America literally no one gives a fuck about the NSA scandal. The only reason people are getting sort of mad, is because politicians and the media are reacting to it. So I guarantee you the outcry isn't due to recent events, and contrary to your belief very few people thought the Kinect was impressive (The potential was impressive, the device itself wasn't.) People were pissed about the Xbone because it was clearly anti-consumer, and disallowed the person who bought it (And owns it, I might add) to not do things they would of been able to do prior with older consoles.

No, before it was released people thought it was a very impressive piece of technology with a futuristic look at voice and gesture commands. 


When it got released, people found out that it was buggy as hell, required a lot of empty space to properly register the movements, the voice and movement recognition was god-awful and most of the games released for it were gimmicky without any consideration on how controls work.

Having to lift my foot in order to make my character move is not realistic, immersive or any other of those things PR people like to claim. It is just annoying, repetitive and immersion breaking. The NSA and the tinfoil-wearing nutjobs (and the reasonable people who figured out that the NSA is spying on their phone calls to porn lines) play a very minor factor in the Kinect's downfall. They do play a major factor in the downfall of the Xbone and Kinect 2.0
