Don't do the bastard nobility thing in every kingdom you pass through. The nobility will catch on eventually and they'll straight up disintegrate your bony ass.
Be cautious.
Also make sure any kids you push off towers are dead, not just paraplegic.

You might want to consider dabbling into incorporeal undead, or maybe trying to make some hybrid of corporeal/incorporeal. Hard to hurt something you can't hit by normal means and all that.

Heck, maybe see if you can start the growth of soul steel, instead of in a graveyard being inside of someone? Make a large undead specially designed to facilitate the growth of such steel?

Aside from the undead follower, the new ones aren't inclined to become undead quite yet.

Also, I would suggest turning pure NPCs into ghouls and keeping those with real levels as loyal underlings. Their desire to learn from you only goes so far.

I still advocate creating an Undead Abomination and an Undead servitor.

Aside from that? Speak to corvids. They're receptive to death, in the sense of "if you feed them and only undead them when they die naturally, they'll turn into a pet swarm"
