Fire Diamonds: Diamonds imbued with fire elemental power.
Ur Opals: These appear to be opals of various sizes, some as large as a human fist. The most powerful stone measured 8 centimeters, and it looked like a great fire burned in its heart.
Would it be okay if I had Neun down as having one of these two gems? I can imagine him having run into some on a previous adventure and having kept one.

It's fine, we've all been on a tropewalk.

It will either ruin your life or enhance it. Links obviously contain appropriate tropes.

Yes, that would be completely acceptable.

Trust me, I've gone on many a trope walk, but this one culminated in .. I'll not say.
Also I must sleep now, so I can't do any more RPing until tomorrow.

Thanks. I think I'll take a normal-sized fire diamond and a ~4 cm Ur Opal.

Righto.

Projected plot plan: Nathalie leads you all to the Bad Horse to pay for your minion's lodgings (1 aurea for three nights, food included, paid in advance discount for 22 people), then leads you to the best place in town (2 aurea, 2 pence for three nights, fine food and drink, equipment cleaning/polishing, stables, concierge, room service, in-room fireplace, in-room safe and insurance policy, access to the springs, etc etc for 3 nights, paid in advance discount for 5 people), and then returns to the manor.

You all get to RP among each other, tell me what you guys aim to do while waiting for the "Disrupt cleansing" and "Assassinate viscount" plots.

By a sheer coincidence (DM-fiat lol), the catacomb entrance to Assassinate happens to be where the Disrupt quest stars.

Also, good job on avoiding the rails. XD

Buying stuff: the best type of rail avoidance!

I figured you wouldn't just waltz on in to the Viscount's manor and start blowing things up. That was one of those rails where you deserved whatever consequences you got.

Ross, how much would it cost to get a staff like the one Myrin just bought, but without the mana storage capacity?

After removing the obstruction, I can safely say that I fixed my O button.

22 gold, 4 pence. The MP storage and the pre-charging of it is actually the most expensive part of the former staff. If it had been a "general magic cost reduction", that would have majorly increased the price.

EDIT: If you want a 10 MP pool, then it's 33 exactly. The price for it doubles at certain intervals, and it's not just at 10/20/30 so on. Adding MP pool is expensive because I don't exactly want people to load up with HUGE pools.

EDIT 2: Even though you have a 75% fire reduction, and you'd be adding 20%, you cannot reduce the MP cost more than 90%. Not that it matters; you're casting Tier 7 Fire Spells for 1 MP while wielding the Staff of Fire anyway.

As a side note, I will go on to say that the Ancient Dagger causes a 25% reduction in Necromancy spells, but only for Mingan priests. The logic being: a) it's a dagger used to sacrifice people to an Elder God of necromancy and magic and b) it was used by a 4th-tier priest for years and has been charged by that. Yes, that does imply the item can level.

How much would a staff with 15% fire cost decrease and, say, 15% fire damage increase cost?

27 gold, 2 pence, 6 shillings.  Not a dramatic difference.

How much could I get in fire damage increase at max from a staff I'd spend 30 gold on and have 15% fire cost decrease?

That would be 17% increase, but damage increase always rounds down, so you'd basically be spending more money for the same result. You can indeed do that, but I don't know why you'd bother.

If you want to get it up to 25%, you're looking at 34 aurea and 3 shillings.

Since it's late and I have to get up early to pack, I'm off until late Sunday / whenever I feel like it Monday. Though my girl is probably gonna hear about this thread, haha.

Hasta luego y'all.

I think I'll take one with a 15% fire cost decrease and a 25% fire damage increase for when you get back, then.
