You'll most likely join Alpha team as they investigate the crash.

Beta Team has been pretty luck to still have the solid core of its team throughout the game. Our fifth party member tends to rotate at times though.

Short:

Alpha was sent to deal with some rebels in a way they saw fit. Maybe they help the rebels, maybe they follow the job and help the duke. While trying to complete their job, there was a ritual of Coranthir in the way, one of which had a job to stop it. So they tried to stop it, which wound up getting out of control and involving the gods.

Which probably caused a huge storm that could best be described as a giant wall of water that swept across the land.

Beta was sent to take care of a different problem, as while Alpha had one job there was a second in the area that was just as important and vital to accomplish, enough so that they couldn't wait for Alpha to finish their job and attempt it as by then it would be too late.

Beta was sent via airship to their destination, but they were caught up in a strange storm that, for all appearances, seemed like a giant wall of water. Beta and most of the crew managed to get to the life boats and out of the ship before the weather hit, stranded in the desert near a dark elf camp. The main ship, however, was piloted by its captain, who refused to back down from the storm nor from his ship.

That's largely the short of it, as it pertains to Alpha.

OK, so, in short, Alpha's busy causing a first-rate apocalypse, and Beta's now gotten themselves stranded as they try to DODGE said apocalypse. Yeah, hello, physics. I should change myself to some sort of physics-bending mage...Physics are so bent here that they can't possibly care if I bend them some more!

It was more of a synopsis for what Alpha would know to an extent. Beta has moved on from being stranded actually.

OK, I know everything short of how to start. Ross, by the way, OK'd me, I think. I'm just waiting for him to kinda fill me in on the immediate area, where I'm going to "spawn", as it were, and where everyone else is compared to me. Assuming, of course, he's willing to tell me all that...
I just don't have the right question to ask, besides, "How do I start going?"
