Actually, what'd ya find for int-aether? And I'm not sure about summoners. Are creations timed as in many vidya, or permanent?

I imagine Auric abilities working like Avatar: The Last Airbender style powers, except with more thn just the four basic elements, and the ability to create things out of nothing.
You mean like firebenders?
Things, not energy. They all create energy out of nothing. I'm talking about if earthbenders could make stone out of thin air. Or if the swamp waterbenders could force plants to grow at immense speeds.

Well, technically, fire is a thing too, not just light & heat. :3

Fire is a chemical process. Not an object. You know what I mean. Something with permanence. Now cease this ridiculousness.

Fire is the release of energy in the form of heat and light, which we perceive. This happens as a material oxidizes at high temperature. It is a self-catalyzing process, because to start a fire, you need heat. Once a fire is going, it creates more heat, causing the reaction to go a bit faster, creating still more heat, until it runs out of fuel. I say oxidizing, because fire is the process of the fuel's molecules uniting with oxygen, hydrogen, and carbon, to create CO2 and H2O, which, again releases heat and light in the visible form of fire.

You can't derail an OOC thread, it's literally impossible.

Anyway, it's the products, the gasses with the high energy, which release the light we see. The heat is a result of the chemical reaction, and that heat pushes the electrons of the product-gasses up to higher shells. As they fall back down they release photons whose color varies depending on how far they fall, (the total distance between however many shells are jumped), which is effected by temperature & the exact chemical composition of the flame.
Fire may be known for its energy, but what we see is a physical thing.

OK, I've submitted a character sheet, back a page or so, I think...
What happens now?

Creating energy from nothing?

I'd like to think I at least nod in the general direction of physics.

Give me a bit to reread and approve. I think that I passed you already.

I'm leaving town Friday.

If any of you live by Santa Rosa or Fort Bragg, CA, Lover Girl and I will be in the area.

If everything's going fine for you right now, how about a materials list? ;)  ;)

Oh, and, on another note:

Name: Telcontar

Race: Half-bred, High Elf and Man

Height: 6' 2"

Weight: 250 pounds

Appearance: A tall, strong-looking man who appears to be around 45, with a presence bespeaking knowledge and wisdom, and an underlying current of command. He has some scars on his face, hands, and arms, but not many, suggesting a warrior who doesn't lose too often. He isn't the most handsome of people, and his expression continually suggests that this is not a man to pick a fight with.

Strength 17, Stamina 15, Agility 10, Speed 12, Endurance 17 Willpower 17, Intelligence 17, Perception 15
HP: 10 + 17+ 6 combat level + 1 Mage level + 3 for Virtue - 1 for flaw = 36
MP: 5 + 17 + 4 Mage + 2 Combat +2 Hobby = 30

Level: Adventurer 1, Telekinetic Mage 1, Greatsword Specialist 1, Warrior 1

Virtues: Warrior(Major)-As a lifetime warrior, he has great strength and ability with all weapons, especially his chosen favorite, the two-handed greatsword.
Hard(Critical)-An incredibly tough person, he will stand firm in combat, preferring to soak up damage...and deal it out threefold. He will not drop from pain, not until he can't feel the sword in his hands will he stop fighting.
Knowledge(Major)-As an Elf-lord and practicing mage, he was expected to learn the lore and languages of the world, and so he did. (Will never be lost, can speak to just about anyone, can read any language, even any "lost" ones)

Flaws: Age(Minor)- As a somewhat older man, he is getting slightly slower than he was.
Past (Critical)-Because of what has happened in his past, he doesn't discuss it, and is terrified of repeating it, causing him to hold back a little of his power when he casts magic, lest he should cause something bad to happen again.
Manner(Major)-As an old soldier, he is straightforward, blunt and to the point, meaning he dislikes politicians, and doesn't like to deal with them, at all.

Hobbies: Major-Daily training of his mind and body
Minor-Throwing knives of all sorts

Feats: Berserker-As Man-kind and a lifetime warrior, he has an inborn, and well-practiced ability to enter a combat trance, identifying friend from foe...and terminating the latter.
Enchanter-As a warrior-mage for most of his life, he has learned to instinctively apply a short-term extra edge to his weapons and a slight spell to his armor, a spell making the armor weigh a little less, which he finds more important as he gets older.

Backstory: A now older man, who was born of an elf-lord and one of mankind, both of whom were dead before he knew them, he grew up fighting, learning to cast spells from an old mage, now long dead, killed by a rogue spellcaster who would give Telcontar many of his scars, surviving by the blade and the spell. A rough-edged man, he can use politics when needed, but hates to do it. Politics generally leave him in a mood that ends with somebody dead...or dying. As an elf, he has inborn power, of what measure he has yet to discover. So far, he has only used small amounts of that power, and then only once, and the experience left him terrified of releasing that power again, because he doesn't want to crack his soul again.

Minor correction of HP and MP, approved. Two questions.

Would you say that your character's potential would be expressed as "stronger" or "cheaper"? I am reading" stronger " but I must ask.

What gods? I can guess Shin as one, since it fits the martial theme...

I never finished, sorry. Look for" Blacksteel " or" Whitesteel ", as well as" Essence of ".

I studied history, social science, communication, and language ; metallurgy and inorganic chemistry aren't my strong points.

And do you mean you want me to just search the thread for materials?

I'm thinking something along the lines of Malu, Shin, and Arnum, now that I've reread those. But I'd like some suggestions from other, experienced people (Read: Ross.... ;))

Shin and Arnum sound fine.
Were there any gods that do perfectionism? Since the guy trains daily he might at least acknowledge someone like that.

xD
Perfect doesn't happen. My character is a practical old soldier, not some sort of naïve little kid with a sword...and a magical aptitude.
Anyway, I think I was thinking Malu because of the magic/science-y stuff.
Which will, undoubtedly, evolve, if it hasn't already, to some sort of !!science!!, involving magma, fire, or another method of incineration. And/or evisceration.
