Like, by water, you can use water elementalism, but not in the middle of the desert. Necromancy only in areas of death, so on. Not sure what to call it, though.

That sounds like a shaman class more than anything. Something like what the new party member would use.

There's some elements of a mimic in it, too. If someone casts a spell around you, you'll sort of instinctively know how to duplicate that spell within a few moments of it being cast, but totally lose it once the residue is gone.

I like Naturalist and Worlder. They're both fitting with the tune, and it works so much better than "ambient mage" or whatever else I was thinking of.

Hey, how literal is 'nuke' mage? I wish to know because of reasons.

Nuke Mage = AoE specialist. So not very if you mean "nuclear fission" but very literal if you mean "giant explosions"

I mean nuclear fission. 'Cause radiation 'prophet' mage is sounding interesting to me right now. This is a post apocalyptic fantasy after all, where's the fun without a little green glow to keep us warm? Or blue, in some cases.

Anyway, another shot at an anti-mage type. Is there magic (either type, style, etc) that is specialized in dispelling, disenchanting, countering, or otherwise prohibiting other magic?

EDIT: I recall now that countering was a thing in Alpha's priest battle, but I was more thinking a style or type of magic in and of itself.

Abjuration is all about protecting yourself from powers. At the moment, other schools of power are dominant, but it has swung back and forth.

Hm... Tank mage/Dispell Counter Mage vs 'Nuke' Mage...

Is literal radiation/nuclear fission magic a thing? Figure I should figure that out before I commit.

Uayli: Known as the Plaguebringer, Uayli is the result of a union between Aphilam and Sanoci. She is allied with both her parents, as well as with Kuro and Daimonais, and defines all other gods as hostile unless it becomes mutually profitable to ally.
Uayli (Poison, Disease, Insanity) (Death, Pain, Chaos)

One guess as to what one of her Fanatic classes does. If your answer was "hideous radioactivity, exhaling noxious poison, and covered in pustules, boils, and growths" then you've pretty much described the Plaguebringer class.

But yeah, that's her domain. Take levels in her Priest or Fanatic, or  do some Chaos Magic.

Well, I know two good back up characters then. Firefly Kin goes really well with 'Nuke' Mage too. That glow isn't just him, hah.

But that's all assuming Jewel bites it, and that's no easy feat.
