That's... A pretty awesome magic system.

I gotta check out this Mistborn it seems, and I can promise a level in that later. Since it seems to be based on drawbacks and gains balancing out, it can probably work out nicely with his rather low mana and average intelligence.

Give her another level In shaman then, although I am still not quite sure how that magic is going to work

You really can both sig it.
But... That would break the laws of sigging! We can't have everyone running around with the same quotes. IT MAKES THEM UNFUNNY FASTER!

Traditional magic of some sort, then? Magic imbued in objects more than effects, maybe?

Eh, necromancy and evil magic is more than enough for me.

I'll hold my thoughts 'till others post, (my character doesn't have the perception to have seen the figures), thanks for the update Ross!

Sorry it wasn't up sooner. xD

I'm thinking of making a class list, including prestige classes. Here's a quickie sample.

S-Level:
Wizard
Bodyweaver
Demigod
Defender of the Faith

A-Level:
Paragon
Enchanter
Prophet

B-Level
Adventurer
Alchemist
Nuke Mage
Champion

C-Level
Fanatic
Heretic
Gladiator

D-Level
Specialist Smith (Swordsmith, Gunsmith, Bowyer)
Leader

Combat
Warrior/Soldier
Fighter
Duelist
Knight
Ranger
Weapon Specialist (Swordsman, Spearwoman, etc)

Empowered
Sorcerer
Magus
Shaman
Priest

Other
Masseuse
Farmer
Merchant
Lawyer
Smith

Probably more classes. Too lazy to think of them right now. Difference between a Warrior, a Fighter, and a Swordsman is that one is trained at war, the other is trained in fighting, and the last is trained in swords. A Warrior might not know fancy sword tricks, but they sure know how to kill you with quick, practiced strokes that don't break the line. A Fighter is less good in war but is the kind of guy you'd want to have at your back in a fight, maybe show you a few tricks. A Swordsman is a person who trained for years with a sword and its techniques.

So, say, a Warrior could have a +1, a Fighter +2, and a Swordsman +3 for a swordfight. In a mass combat, it'd be more like 3-2-2. So on.

Feel free to add more to this.

I view it as halfway between Bard and Priest. You have totems and fetishes, and perform magic through certain rituals and dances and the like. You'd know some alchemy (mostly of the healing and psychoative sort) and can shift some stats around via altered perceptions and states of mind. Somewhat of a medium, too.

Alright... So Jewel is a specialized smith in stone. I've been wondering how that factors in with his hobby, which is also working with stone. A bonus on top of what his level gives? Or would that be a general smith, since it indicates material instead of an object or weapon?

And I think I can see the differences in combat...

Warrior is the guy you'd want at your side in mass combat, or if you want to work as a team with something. They're the melee team-player of sorts, while they may not be as actively skilled in combat with a sword as a fighter or swordsman, they truly shine when working as a unit with other people. If you want a guy who can take on three people at once with some skill, or take on one guy while working with three others, this is your guy.

Fighters, meanwhile, are what they are. They're good fighters, but not as good in mass combat as a warrior who's trained for such. They can use every weapon with a good amount of finesse, although up against a weapon specialist with their weapon they wouldn't do as well. They're strictly middle of the road, good at a number of things they do but there are people who do it better.

A weapon specialist is essentially a fighter except they focus entirely in one type of weapon, whether that be sword, spear, etc. I do wonder what breaks down the categories... Does spear encompass javelins and pikes, and does sword encompass two handed and short?

I imagine a duelist to be an opposite fighter, they excel in one on one combat but flounder when up against multiple opponents. So I imagine very similar to a warrior, except when it comes to one on one, they get bonuses of similar size as the warrior when in mass combat.

Did I get those more-or-less right?

I'm curious as to what makes Adventurer a B ranked one though. Is it based on the variety of things they can do?

Bonus on top for stone. Feel free to make obsidian swords and such, hah.

They can. You tend to specialize in a field of weaponry as opposed to a specific weapon, which is why there's Swordsmen instead of Rapier-ist or Cutlass-Lass.

And yeah, you nailed it. That is exactly what I had in mind.

Yes. Variety and strength - an adventurer gets trained in magic, in fighting, reading, writing, poetry, mountaineering, dungeoneering, etc. In general, S-class give more than +5 to HP or MP, may affect stats, and have plenty of bonuses. A-class is up to 4 without boosting stats, B class is 2, and from there it's regular HP/MP but with bonuses.

An additional note is that not all prestige classes go up to 10. Wizard has only 7 levels. Paragon has 3. So on.

Does every level cap at ten, or only prestige except for those with exceptions?

Also yeah, stone crafts are us up in here. Should make myself a nice macuachuitl. Fragmentation bat ho!

EDIT: Wait, that reminds me... Gamer, didn't you talk about wanting a macuachitl? Jewel can make Mogred one if they ever meet.

Or other stuff with stone. It is stone, so I'm not really seeing armor smithing or weapon crafting out of that. At least, not without some exotic materials. Unless it was a blunt weapon I suppose. But I imagine Jewel would be great at making statues, buildings, or some other kind of social engineering stuff. Not exactly his favorite thing to do, but stone is stone.

Strategic disinformation, wizard-wise. Any rank beyond 7 is a title, not a level.

He is paragon 3, go check the profile.

If I have Fanatic, does that preclude me from taking Heretic?

EDIT: Did I see the ambushers, from my elevated position?
