They seem like quite a gang. A bunch of characters if you ask me. Tash laughs and flashes a winning smile.
Sure! They tend to grow on you. Careful you remember to scrape em' off the next day. You see Darby's head poke out as he eases open the door.
Hey kiddos, we're on the move. Got a mass disturbance down on 7th and Bluebelt. Tash nods and motions for you to follow him. He and Darby lead you through the HQ to a small keycard room, inside which lies the team's personal armoury. They have you remove your old suit and hand over your battle baton and Vester, then fit you in a brand new heavy riot slipsuit and hand you your new weapons. The Vester looks just like your old one, but the machine gun is very different, and not too light either. You have to struggle to keep it at the ready, so you opt instead to cradle it awkwardly in both arms, the only manoeuvre you can attempt without dropping it outright.
Moments later you're rocking around in the back of the panzer along with the others on the way to respond to the mass disturbance. Tash didn't even sit next to you, and instead you're squished on the edge of the tiny bench between the panzer door and Darby, who hums a tuneless and grating melody to no one in particular as he jabs his pointy metal elbow into your side every time the tank careens around a corner or rattles over a speed bump without slowing down. The panzer squeals to a halt and Char sticks her head out of the driver's cabin and calls out cheerfully.
We're heeeere! Everybody wake up!! At least two people groan, and Darby chuckles softly to himself at their suffering. Fay's visor depolarises, revealing her features, contorted in annoyance.
How could anyone sleep in this deathtrap anyhow? Char's face darkens and she growls.
Don't call her a deathtrap! MY BABY ISN'T A DEATHRAP!! Everyone piles out of the tank before Char can get ahold of any of you, and the scene unfolds before you as the squad fans out and prepares to get to work.
Hundreds of people line the streets, most of them in dirty and ragged clothes wielding whatever they could pick up on the way here as makeshift weapons. Some are gathered in groups chanting and shouting defiance, while others loot nearby shops and vandalise property. Others still merely stand by and watch as the violence unfolds.
