What is this? This is an adaption of a premise by Harry Baldman. You are dead. Now, that isn't really an exciting start to an RTD, nor is it a happy end to one. However, it's not what happens after you died, but what happened before. This RTD is based around what series of events happened before your death.
Okay, so how is that supposed to work?Basically, I ask a question, you reply.
In more detail, at the start of the game it begins with your death. The first question of the RTD is how did you get here. You can reply with basically anything, though this RTD is probably going to remain on the realistic side so don't go too crazy. Let's say you are a corpse in a shallow grave. Your reply to how you got here is "I was forced to dig my own grave by bandits and then shot in the back of the head.". I then roll a die. This is meant to determine how truthful your statement was.
1: The exact opposite is true. You forced a man to dig his own grave, but he stabbed you, then you bled out, and then he left you to rot.
2: It's simply untrue. The bandits buried you after they killed you.
3: The details are off. You were digging it up with another person and you were shot facing down the barrel.
4: Yes, it's all true, but the spirit of it isn't carried through. Bandits shot you, dug grave, yep yep. But, even if you were implying that you were innocent, it turns out you betrayed them and they were punishing you.
5: It's true, spirit and all. The bandits robbed you, forced you to dig your own grave, then shot you.
6: All true and it has the spirit, except it's taken in a weird direction that complicates things. The bandits were your brother and sister.
I then ask a question based off the circumstances. Why were you out in the desert anyway?
Where does the RTD take place? This'll take place in an Eastern European country in a revolution turned civil war sometime in the 1990s. What better place for massive amounts of death and horror then a country in the middle of a civil war? Besides, it doesn't even start getting boring when we go back far enough because beforehand, the country was a police state.
If it does get boring, I may implement a round system where I start the game over again in a different locale.
How do I sign up?Fill out this character sheet! I'm looking for around five players, though two extra or one less shouldn't be a disaster.
