Update: turambar_7 built a version of Dwarf Therapist that's compatible with MDF, available for download here. Thanks!
On another note, the settings manager has made a little progress. Not a lot, but hopefully it'll be ready at some point. If you're interested in helping with that, you can find it on Github (see my previous update). I might start a new thread for it soon and try Linux support as well.

What is the latest mac version you could come up with? 4d? I would really like to update that first post in the main thread, so that people can find it easier. Its still on V2f, which is ancient.

I've tried running the latest Masterwork in WINE, but it does not work very well besides calling up the DFhack interface. How easy is it to patch over the v3 Mac files to v4?

How do you use the setting.exe for Masterwork? I have tried it a couple of times but it hasn't worked.

I'm also interested in any update - I tried the mac version from the main post and it continually crashes on me.  If something new is close, I'll just wait, otherwise I'll pick through the thread and see if I can get something else up and running.

Thanks for all the time you folks have put into this, by the way.  Much appreciated.

Try installing PlayOnMac, it should be able to run the current windows release. But honestly, I am just repeating what I have been told. ^^

Not yet. I would love for there to be one, so if you're handy with shell scripting now's your chance to shine.  :) Getting DF to run is fine, but Masterwork's GUI requires dotnet40, and having tried to install that under wine the other day (on a Mac) I suspect that I'm the only person in history to actually get it to install. I have no idea how.

Having said that, wine 1.2.3 seems to work best with the DF core (with DFHack), and 1.7.7 has been solid with the GUI if you can get dotnet to install.

Yeah, running the Windows GUI through Wine is probably your best bet. VB is hard to port to other platforms (at least without using a bunch of additional libraries), and there isn't a working settings manager for other platforms yet as far as I know. You could theoretically copy over the raws and scripts from MDF to a fresh copy of DF (and DFHack), but it won't be easy to change settings, since you'd have to do it manually.

lethosor, I know that you were working on a python GUI; did much come of that? I also seem to recall that someone, somewhere, has a bunch of regexpes in a shell-script.

I've asked Splinterz for a list of all the magic strings which get used, so if nothing else I can include a bare-bones, terminal only config program.

I haven't had as much time to work on my GUI as I had hoped. I can probably manage a front-end for a command-line script, though (and even if I don't, a command-line tool would be better than nothing). The "magic strings" are listed in the settings source code somewhere, and I'll see if I can pull those up (they should be in the new settings manager too). A lot of them simply replace things like "NOPETS!" with "YESPETS[", which causes DF to ignore or parse the tokens. A few others that change values append things to the end of the token instead, like "[GROWDUR:30]NOFLAG", so things like "30]NOFLAG" could be changed to "60]YESFLAG" (I just made up that example, but I believe there are a couple settings similar to that). This can probably be done with a simple string replacement.

Sounds correct. The ones at the start remove or add entire objects, while the ones at the end change numbers in objects. like METAL_ORE:IRON:100]EASY to METAL_ORE:IRON:25]HARD. Also made up, but thats the idea.

Today I found the time to test a bit with POM. Install works fine (Wine 1.7.7, dotnet40 and copy of Masterwork). The game runs fine (only 2h testing though) - the therapist needs forever to do things and separated the first migration wave in 2 (1 for the winter, 6 in spring) but works ... after java jre install soundsense works fine too

GUI works mostly but i had to start the game manuell with the .exe file

Nice. Is there any way to bundle this up somehow, or write a little guide for other people? I am sure that quite a few are interested on playing the new version on a mac.
