One option would be to put a Chemistry Access door leading from the Medbay Treatment Area to a little Pharmacy booth in the Medbay Lobby. Then the chemist can take your order and then sneak off in back to brew up whatever crazy juice he wants without customers watching to make sure it's actually medicine.

But, yeah. The point of having chemistry so far back is so that R&D and Robotics can ask the chemist for acid without running down the halls and so that traitors can brew up nastiness without everyone and their dog watching in through the window.

Grek, this introduces some other problems. Like how are you going to make it so the shutters with RD and robo still work properly? Double shutters makes you unable to pass things trough, but single shutters can be controlled by either side. What I mean by this is that that doesn't work. If you put Chemistry in front and add shutters, you don't have these problems anymore. And I think it's more of a good than a bad thing that the roboticist and the scientists have to run down the hall every now and then.

Robotics and Research have the shutter button on their side, and only one set of shutters between them and chemistry. As with the current build chemistry neither has shutters nor shutter buttons.

Chemistry, as Aseaheru mentioned, is no deeper into Medbay than it is now. You still go the same distance and need to pass same number of doors with the same access levels. You just straight instead of immediately turning right. The major difference is a tiny bit more seclusion from people watching them make space lube.

Forcing Research and Robotics to leave the Science department should take a back seat to the fact that Geneticists who want to do their job sit in an out of the way area mashing buttons on a console until someone brings a body to them. Science will still have to go out and raid storage for parts/research materials, let miners in with metals and deliver their products to people. Genetics gets to be out in the hall so they can see people go in and out of Medbay and be at least a little more involved with the station.

But, in the end, you're the one doing the mapping. If you really hate the idea of rooms being connected differently, that's your call. You can leave them as they are on the old map.

I don't have a huge problem with it, but if you're putting Chemistry back there to have more seclusion and then let the scientists peek in at will, that kinda defeats the point :P

I'm going to follow the map, but not exactly. There WILL be shutters so the chemists can have some privacy, tough.

E: Also, I just noticed that Cargo doesn't have a secpost yet.

Go for it. Do as much as you can. Also, as is pretty obvious (at least I think so), in the git version, cargo is still very much a WIP. Once I get home, I'll push a big map update.

This is what I have so far. Not everything fits on that one image, but it's only the general layout anyway. CMO office is the most worked out of everything and has privacy shutters.

The old map also has those. All of Sec Maintenance, north of tool storage, near disposals, all around cargo and mining, the incinerator, medical maintenance, science maintenance, north of the library, north of botany, north of the bar, outside the holodeck, even a wall leading into the HoS office. I don't think it's a major issue.

Most of the areas are in minor spots. also, north of toolstorage is illicit, perhaps built by people in firesuits.
Those areas are not in high-use areas (the main part of medbay) or if they are its protected by other shit.

Also, there's gonna be a maintenance tunnel wrapping around medbay. You could also say that my design lacks doors and items.
