I am amazed at your faith in the founding fathers. I'm not the best informed on it, but i don't think giving them all that would be the wisest move.

Oh, who said I was going to be giving them that? I'd be giving them select information from it to make AMERICA a liberal paradise.

The rest I'd be using for fun and profit.

For seed money, I'd sell survivalist gear to the black helicopter crowd.
21st century, survival gear, even.

But yeah, given about a week of prep time and any date I wanted, I'd go to Philadelphia with a laptop, some 100+ terabytes of HDDs, a charger, instructions for building a 110V AC generator, and as much of Wikipedia, Wolfram Alpha, and the internet in general downloaded as humanly possible, at the start of the writing of the Declaration of Independence.

Printed out, of course, would be every single map of every single battle of the American Revolution that I could find. Because want to curb stomp an enemy? Have his battle plans.

"And thus, endowed with God's Revelation by His heavenly messenger, the Empire of Washingtonia created its fleet of steam frigates and crushed the tyrannical Crown, then bent all Europe to its will. Sadly, the Empire collapsed when the Empire's ruling council found the secret "porn stash" amonst the Divine writings and spent the rest of their days in debauchery previously unseen since the time of Caligula...."

We change time, but not place? Yeah, I'd be royally screwed. I'd drop in mid-war, when my town was occupied by enemy forces.
Depends on how you define "place."  We could also be royally screwed because we end up poofing into the middle of outer space, since the solar system and Earth both happen to be moving at quite a rapid clip in a galactic frame of reference. :P

Simple, you make it relative to the Earth. There is no "Universal Reference Point" or any nonsense like that.

So.... most of this assumption is the time travelers are immune to changes in the past.  Consider this scenario:

1: Everyone is forced back, as is, but has no reason to time travel so changes in the past will not prevent them from time traveling.  Thus, no prep time, and you end up in the same area you are now, with only what you have on your person (so no mugging people in bars to take their clothes and go hunt John Conner.  Unless you are naked right now, or are a Terminator, I guess).

2: Changing the past works, but immediately changes your perspective of it.  So if you tell your past self not to do something, you remember getting told not to do something, but then the instant in time after that, since you change your decision process, your entire remembered history is rewrote (and any damage/whatever changes only for you and items you brought).

3: Only a select few (this board) travels back, so not an entire earth going back thingy.

Is there truly anybody on this board who wouldn't do this anyway?

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

I wouldn't worry about the Balkans, as I'll be either leading a peace effort or assassinating various individuals.
Do you not see the chaos? We've have 7 billion people all pursuing their own agendas within a series of options they know if they succeed in pursuing will have a definite outcome. There would be time travelers eliminating time travelers, 1993rs eliminating time travelers, time travelers manipulating 1993rs...

According to the scenario only members of these forums go back to 1993. So unless we got 7 billion members all of a sudden...

To start: what if everyone woke up tomorrow and it was 1993 again? Assume you retain your 2013 age.

Butterfly effect.

None of those battles will happen. Besides, even if they do, the battleplan is always the first casualtie.
