I'd wake up in a stranger's house, possibly in their kid's bed, and definitely be arrested on B&E charges, with likely sexual-crime-related charges as well.

But if that were not the case, I'd try my hardest to keep Jean Cretin out of Federal office, along with keeping Gordon "BC HST" Campell out of Provincial office.

In my opinion, time travelling works like this:
Tampering with the established course of events creates a point of divergence in the original timeline.
For example, if all members of this board go back in time and kill George W. Bush, they would create a point of divergence. The original timeline would be split into two divergent timelines: in one timeline George W. Bush is killed, and history is changed, in another timeline George W. Bush is not killed, and history continues as usual.
After creating the point of divergence, we would become a part of the changed timeline. The only way to undo the creation of the point of divergence is to prevent our past selves from changing history. However, by preventing our past selves from changing history we would still change history and create a new point of divergence and a new timeline.

Yes, the divergent timeline theory has always seemed to make the most sense, and avoids plenty of paradoxes.

Would not going back in time create 3 seperate realities though?
1.We don't go back in time, nothing changes.
2.We go back in time and cease to exist in this reality.  The future changes.
3.We go back in time, do something serious and change the present.

There is no reason for number 1 to exist.
There are two timelines, one where you basically vanish from persent existence, and one where you suddenly appear in the past out of nothing.

What if we're all, like, supposed to go back in time, man.

therefore holding to a self-consistent history theory, wherein we all exist twice?

I should think I'd have contacted myself by now if so. Unless FearfulJesuit wrote this thread in response to self-contact, and we will all be contacted by ourselves soon.

He's stated specifically to ignore the standard Casaulty Stuff, because it is so predictably the result of such discussions.

I'd be a year old, but I could see my younger sister be born.

What if we're all, like, supposed to go back in time, man.
Then you end up with a time loop in a linear time line. It also robs you of anything resembling free will.
And I'm ok with that.

You wake up. It's 1993 again. Unfortunately for you, this feeling is familiar.

You've lived the twenty years leading up to 2013 twice, and you're about to live them for the third time. It's clear you've become caught in some sort of time... well, not loop. Spiral. What do you do?
