It's been there for years. : )

Zombies didn't arrive on the map, but all the old corpses started animating, so I assume there's a necromancer somewhere although he doesn't show up on the units list.
Pardon madam, I'm sorry.
Did you sttle in a evil biome? they can reanimate sometimes(but get boring when don't). If a unit is inside the map, it will, no matter what, appear in the units list.
I suggest you to put
[CREATURE:HUMAN]
[CASTE:FEMALE]
      [FEMALE]
instead of legendary female gamer... It's easier to understand(or not).

It's not an evil biome and nothing started reanimating until this happened. There is definitely no necromancer on the units screen, but new corpses keep reanimating. Is it possible the necromancer is just hidden? I mean, goblin ambushers don't show up on the units list until you find them, do they?

Sounds like a sneaky necromancer is walking around. They can be kind of hard to catch, but an underground refuse stockpile with some reanimatable parts in it with cage traps before it can help catch them.

Since they have a pathological need to reanimate anything they can, they try to path to the stockpile and get caught by the traps.

It's not a siege though. No warning, just suddenly out of the blue remains started animating themselves. It went in a pattern as well, and I can trace the path the necromancer must have taken, but still no sign of the necromancer him/herself. Maybe they left. Anyway I've decided to just leave it as it is and start the adventurer succession game. I'm close to ready to post the thread. I sincerely hope I will get it all done tonight. Just have to get my first adventurer to the goal without dying...

How many necromancers can a necro-ambush contain?
As many as they like, they all operate individually and arrive individually. Theoretically the entire tower could show up unseen.
