I'll point out that the Spiny Flowers have a lot of nectar, which is vital for royal jelly.
I've been thinking about that but loath to do !science! towards a vital resource, but hybridizing the Queens flower with the Invasive, Spiny plant may be a worthy pursuit.
We can just hybridize the flower with the spiny plant. Much easier and failsafe.

We've already done so, hence why Ross was so kind as to remind us. The problem is that only Queens Flower Nectar can be utilized for Royal Jelly s I understand it.

Well, one of things I plan to do is to replant like 10 various flowers into the queen's flower chamber (including few nectar ones), and look how the strongest one will appear absorbing all others... But better do that after we got male, as that can delay jelly appearance
And better do it after we have more good flowers to choose for the "fight" (That's why I want to raid botanical facility (I suspect it's a farm))
And having pollinator to pick the best candidates is a nice bonus

I am sure, that by creating leveled pollinator we will not create queen's flower or anything close to that, especially with 3rd priority... But we may get a  competitive flower that would be tied to the pollinator like we are tied to queen's flower, that linked flowers can be better than regular ones, creating something between Queen flower, and regular flowers. Like commanders in our structure

Don't think the botanical facility will be a farm. More like an experimental terraforming facility, where they test out their drawings for the future ecosystem of Mars. Much better than farms, as it contains specimen optimized for the Martian conditions, and a much wider variety of them though.

Anyway, what's the Martian terraforming status.

Temperature: Still cold
Atmosphere:
-Pressure: High enough for flying drones (Based on previous game)  ((Guess around 0.3 atmosphere)
-Oxygen: High enough for some forms of combustion   ((Guess around 40-60%*))
Radiation: Nothing changed here, I suppose
Ecosystem: Very, very limited. Probably limited to cyanobacteria, and a few mountain species

*Might seem a lot, but due to the low pressure a human is still going to faint.

I can safely tell y'all that the best way to ensure the new breeds continue is to apply Queen's Pollen to both the Evergreen and Spiny, apply theirs to the Queen's Flower, and play around with the resulting. Flowers that breed with Queen's Flowers will have larger offspring (and moderately toxic Fruits, but you can't win every battle.) Before long, this means doubling the amount of food produced per Flower and eventually non-toxic Fruits. Flowers that breed with Spinyflowers will have more nectar in their offspring, Flowers that breed with the Evergreens will produce the stimulant alkaloids and have a longer flowering period, etc etc. Yes, given enough time, You can combine all strains together. Even if You spend all of Your time in the biolab studying the flowers, it's still gonna take several generations to make it happen.

Also, planting new Flowers in the Queen's Chamber to compete with the existing Queen's Flower means that the already-established Queen Flower will stop production specifically to kill the ones just planted in it. It's not the best idea.

Yes, humans have to wear pressure suits, and most of their plants are grown either hydroponically or in carefully treated areas. There is no mass vegetation.

Another question. Can we do Grafting and/or cloning of Flowers. Not that we have the right species for it, but it could work.

Proposed course of action:  v.3

Scouts
Work in team of three, (more chances to fight back if located)...  concentrate on scouting  around botanic facility as we gonna raid it... Other targets don't seem good on risk\reward ratio

Eggs
Lay: 5 M-caste soldiers, 1 M-predator
Will: 4 M-predators to M-nurses and\or M-commanders, will B-nurse to B-commander

Flowers
As soon as we get ability to:
a) cross-pollinate underground flowers among themselves  and prepare to plant offspring in abandoned mines\other tunnels to be tended by patrolling pollinators
b) Pollinate normal flowers in optimal chamber with Evergreen's pollen (Those are meant for surface, and Evergreen is cold resistant)
c) Polinate Evergreen and Spiny with Queen's pollen and vice versa

Royal jelly
Upgrade a pollinator to commander pollinator, making it able to
1) command and coordinate other pollinators (use experience from vivisecting LVL1 commander)
2) Do various plantrelated research.
3) Finally try to emulatre queen's link with queen flower somewhat to make that pollinator able to make his own, special, pollinator flower

Weapon designs
Design pollen fuel propelled rocket launchers.  (we have mines already, and HE launchers are good against squashy targets)

Industry
Build second food synthesizer  in the deep part of hive,
Move stasis chamber to the deep part of hive
Upgrade deep underground farm to plant researching biolabaratory.

The Spiny Flower was created by grafting the Spiny onto a Flower. So yes, You can absolutely do that.

As far as cloning goes, You'll have to try science to see what cutting types would work.

I'd still like to see some more of others plans integrated into that system. Primarly, research:

1. Cloning both plant and Kai (Though, well, I doubt cutting Kai in pieces and planting them will work)
2. DNA scanning
3. Alternative way to find mutations
4. Mapping and Recreation of Kai proteins and hormones

Hm, 10ebbor10 is right my plan has the queen basically free from any research... Have one more idea how to improve food consumption.
More advanched stuff should wait until we get something better than level 1 biolab
redid industry part a bit

Proposed course of action:  v.4

Scouts
Work in team of three, (more chances to fight back if located)...  concentrate on scouting  around botanic facility as we gonna raid it... Other targets don't seem good on risk\reward ratio

Eggs
Lay: 5 M-caste soldiers, 1 M-predator

3) Finally try to emulatre queen's link with queen flower somewhat to make that pollinator able to make his own, special, pollinator flower

Technology research
Design pollen fuel propelled rocket launchers.  (we have mines already, and HE launchers are good against squashy targets)

Biology research
1) Briefly analyze xenofauna without vivisecting, yet. Generic info about them, only
2) Analyze and compare digestive juices of various Kai, especially juices of grub's... Find what chemicals make grub's digestive juices more effective and try to create a method to artificially create those chemicals to be added to synthetic food and boost digestion of regular Kai's. (of cause test them for toxicity levels, first).
3) keep observing the hybrid

Industry
In order of priority:
Upgrade deep underground farm to plant researching biolabaratory.
Build chemical researching\producing facility in the deep hive.
Build second food synthesizer  in the deep part of hive,
(removed moving of stasis chamber... I forgot that We have soldiers inside)

If possible I'd like to lay the nurse egg we have lined up, also this
Dig out a room with a grow light, Flower soil and celling shoot. build a crude air lock to separate it from the hive and put the Kaibrid in there. Feed it moist, nutrient enrich but low calorie food and watch to see what it dose. No non-B casts allowed in there.
you know, if we have the time.

You order the Scouts to fly East to the Botanical Testing Facility, emphasizing the need for stealth above all. Should discovery be imminent, standing orders are left to eliminate witnesses, and then self-destruct via overloading the batteries of the Blasters to eliminate all traces of Kai incursion. After a half-day's flight, the Scouts touch down outside the domed facility, briefly roll in dust to acquire a level of visual camoflage, and make a stealthy approach. After briefly scouting the outside, the Scouts report that there appear to be no Hive attachments, and that the entrance to the facility appears to be unobserved by mechanical devices. They enter, proceeding through the airlock, and find the air inside is very humid. There are indeed living facilities for Humans within, as well as human Environmental Suits, although scent-traces indicate Humans have not come by for at least a month, and that the few who did simply came to replace parts before leaving. The facility is highly automated, with seed banks, auto-cloners, and a wealth of sensory arrays, dedicated to measuring light, soil, moisture, and other conditions. Unable to access the technology, the Scouts are unable to analyze the soils, but it is evident that large amounts of soil have been replaced with soil similar to that You assume would be Human-Planet growing soil, as evidenced by the dark color of it.  The investigation continues until night; with the risk of detection being low, You order them to remain in the facility overnight, and if possible to take from the seed banks. There is kudzu, kiwi, potatoes, sprouts, clover, cabbage, lettuce, tomato, radish, quinoa, hops, wheat, seaweeds, algae, mushroom spores, cannabis, papaver, and many other kinds; You assume they have been modified to tolerate the prevalent conditions on the Iron Planet. What these symbols mean, of course, is entirely beyond Your comprehension and concern - probably different varieties of Human Flowers of Life.

Come morning, equipped with soil samples, spores, and seeds, they return back to the Hive, taking slightly longer than before as a result of their burden.

Earlier, You had decided to put off reproduction until the last possible moment, and instead chose to spend the Royal Jelly on the most intelligent of the Pollinators, forcing it to develop traits akin to the Commander, albeit more focused on greater psychic communion with the Flowers of Life. After having ascertained the success of these changes, You ordered the L1 Pollinator to prepare a Dormant Flower and attempt to create a new breed of Flowers that are to the Queen Flower what Commanders are to Queens. Surprisingly enough, this process appears to have been successful, as the individual Flower is larger and more pale than regular Flowers, though not as much as a Queen's Flower. Time will tell if this Flower is capable of producing the needed Nectar; You estimate that should it occur, the production time of Royal Jelly would be shortened by a day. Unfortunately, You are prevented from having the Pollinators begin most of the Pollination, as the Evergreen is not currently Active; You leave standing orders to implement the Surface Evergreen breeding, and the Queen breeding as soon as it becomes possible. In the meantime, the Pollinators begin the process of reproducing the Underground flowers, which are steadily growing used to the lack of light.

In the meantime, You have been busy with bioresearch. First came the analysis of the alien species: the first is an oxygen-breating detrivore gastropod without a shell. The second proves to be a corpse of Human origins, although it does not actually appear to be a Human; instead, it is a larger, knuckle-walking primate that has undergone some amount of gene modification over generations to more closely resemble Humans, mostly in terms of intelligence. The last species is a large avian species from the same planet as the Xenoflora samples. More importantly, however, is the Grub's digestive processes; upon analysis, You find that their gastric juices are more acidic and more is produced than Drones and other stages of development; their internal flora is also more diverse. It would appear that the reduction in pH of more developed Kai  is enough to kill off the bacteria within or at least reduce the populations to be inable to digest as much. The Hybrid is doing fine. You note to send a Nurse down to the Deep Hive in lieu of dedicating resources to developing a machine to replicate the Nurse processess, lay an appropriate egg, and have the Tech Drones begin to assemble an additional Synthesizer and Stasis Chamber in the Deep Hive.

Lastly, You order the Soldier to begin upgrading the Rocket Launchers to incorporate Pollen Fuel, both for propulsion and payload. At this, the Soldier finds limited success: the weapon that is created is more like a rocket-propelled grenade than an actual rocket. While it has a greater ammunition capacity, the damage, penetration, and rage are impaired, as well as the launcher itself needing a brief cooldown time before subsequent launches. Unwilling to test the minimum time needed to fire before risking a cook-off, the Soldier presents the weapon to you and the information on it.
