Pretty sure only Queens lay eggs(Nurses and Commanders probably can too, but I'm too lazy to look)

Predators can lay eggs too, nurses if upgraded..

But I don't understand why you bring this

The L2 NavDrone was first upgraded to have greater technical proficiency, and then again, but with a focus on rapid processing of data, and a better ability to imagine time and relative dimension. :P

I will say that while you are not yet at the "end" of Your tech tree, it is within sight. Making atmospheric and ground-based vehicles is going to be a challenge (remember the Tech Queen having trouble with that last game?); spacecraft are currently way beyond Your tech levels.

You are miles away from seeing the end of biological adaptation, however.

If you're wanting to extend the food cycle, I must point out that You've already developed electricity-to-methane bacteria, You know that the Vat and Flowers have cyanobacteria, and that certain types of hornets and aphids are known to convert solar power to energy. With a good roll, You could modify Yourself and current eggs to have something approaching 1% efficiency at solar conversion. Obviously, that's not going to be enough to seriously change the food cycle beyond maybe an extra hour or so before final starvation, but it's the first step towards alternative energy sources.

Once You hit 15%, this translates into going an extra day without food. With some R&D and Royal Jelly, it's just this side of possible to get near 10-11% as it stands.

Queens and Commanders can lay eggs by default. Nurses can, in absence of a Queen, or with Royal Jelly, produce eggs.

Aside from that, nope.

We are body, shouldn't  concentrate on that puny tech.
I don't see playing as an industrial race as not playing to our B-Caste heritage, merely as recognizing that sometimes you shouldn't reinvent the wheel (especially when the wheel in this case comes from a CAD database).

We rally can't afford any sort of aggression
Indeed, not at least until we have enough food stores that we can pull the soldiers out of stasis full time and be able to breed freely as needed. Which is also why the Scouts should not travel as a group or attempt to 'fight it out'. We don't need the extra 'excitement' in the Hive quite yet.

Given that our principle technical resources do in fact come out of a CAD Database (and building enough of a T-Caste to change that will take some time, even with an upgraded NaviDrone mate) and said DB wasn't out of a Shipyard, Our best bet in getting off-world again will likely be in seizing Human ships once we start creating a Ruckus and sneaking some breeding groups out once the Refugees start flowing. Once that has happened We can be more brazen in Our efforts and start moving more resources up top as Our Future as a species will no longer be so precarious.

Of course, right now we are solely thinking about the naked apes, while as I understand it We have much bigger enemies than the Humans to contemplate; if They become involved the situation becomes rather more interesting.

Hmm, and I think I have an idea for what to do with the Kai-brid idea... We need to first start by breeding a Broad-leafed variety of the Flower with a preferred environment of a Kai and a symbiotic relationship with it's host Kai in the same way that it is Symbiotic with its mycorrhiza and as such could facilitate Us slowly becoming Photosynthetic ourselves (much like a Lichen is). Also, We never did receive any answers regarding the Fusion abilities of the Flower of Life and to what degree these might be amplified and utilized as part of this larger Kai-bridization process.

On the topic of Kai-bridization, we need to also isolate the species of Fungus that are potentially harmful to Us and either adapt the Kaibrid to be able to better defend itself immunologicaly or modify the microfauna community to be more amenable to Us. This and the other discussed flower research are certainly a good first load of work for the Supah Pollinator. That reminds me, He will need to investigate the potential usefulness of that idea as well (Kaibridizing a pollinator).

Also, another project to look into would be creating an underground variant pollinator. Such a thing would be a good compliment to using the underground Flowers of life as an eventual easy way to establish forward supply stations to support our efforts away from the Hive.

I think the notion is, people want a secure place to be away from prying eyes and a stable food supply where we can grow a population.

Whatever else we do, we'll be largely biologically based so we're going to need food and lots of it.

From my experiences with food, bullets from the prying eyes of humans are not proper seasoning.

Using and concentrating are different things...
Look at mining, we went with adapting ourself for  that, not boosting some tech drone and developing mining equipment like tech queen would do

Same goes with fertilize t-drone and "put all jelly to get tech queen" route. That's just turning off  our chances to upgrade Kai in exchange for ability to improve tech somewhat faster
I  think we just need to assimilate production and techs of bipeds, but for that we need to win some battles first

Which is also why the Scouts should not travel as a group or attempt to 'fight it out'. We don't need the extra 'excitement' in the Hive quite yet.
Then why scout at all? Why arming the scouts?  One group studying a single target is less likely to be discovered than 3 scouts scouting different targets
And if discovered, group of three scouts have much higher chances to kill the enemy before they spread the word
Also, group of three is less likely to die and leave corpse and piece of our technology for humans

As for hybrid flower, I tend to abandon it... My idea was to create a flower for nomad Kai hives, it's obviously unsuited for that role unless we spend huge amount of effort that would be better put elsewhere. Like making queen flower producing more jelly, or creating plants that can grow in tunnels with minimal tending
Our R&D resources are limited, let's try everything route is just bad

Brilliant Idea!
Hybrid-Caste Queen, with a queen's flower growing out of her!
She absorbs a fraction of her own Jelly, to constantly change herself!
Absolute Genius!

On royal jelly.
A tech quen is not imediatly useful so we probably want to whait on bdifying the T cast drones. What it comes down to from an urgency point of view is that our two best bets are upgrading a scout or up grading a polinator. As I could go for either I'll jump on the polinator band wagon.
(ideal)LVL1 polinator specs
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
They are aranged in decending order of urgency so If we are in danger of runing out of manipulative ability (you said that the more we change at once the less efect each is) the objectives should be abandond from the bottum up.

We will want technology, there are some things that biology is just unsuited for. We could go to a lot of effort to grow guns with low range that can't be replaced, or mass-produce cheap but effective guns and make ourselves better able to use them. We could go to massive efforts to produce space-faring Kai, with entire castes devoted to nothing but ferrying the Kai to and from gravtational concentrations, or produce vehicles that can be made faster and are more efficient as they do not need to maintain their own vital functions. We should be a hive of the body, adapting to everything that we encounter, but we would be foolish not to have a technological effort supporting us.

I'm not saing we don't need tech, Im saying we don't ned tech now. That can come later. perhaps we should put one of the tech drones in stasis

But now is the best time for tech, we have abundant minerals and limited food...

1) We don't need tech queen for that,  we have working designs, already. That are not worse than the ones bipeds posses
2) Swarms of melee soldiers attacking from underground and able to dig through metal and concrete can do fine job without guns at all
3) You need no guns for biological warfare (I guess body queens can design some quite funny stuff here)

As for spacefaring, assimilation of human tech and using whatever knowledge we still have to boost it is more viable than designing spaceships from scratch

Quote
But now is the best time for tech, we have abundant minerals and limited food...
1) abundant minerals should lead to low tech extensive development, you need  high tech when you have limited resources and want to put them on the best use
2) limited food is something we want to solve with the pollinator upgrade and other actions

Main point is - I am not against using tech, I am against putting majority of resources to tech advancement

Why don't we stasis the hybrid for now until we have sufficient resources to pursue side projects such as that?
