Well, I had a quick search with various keywords (including Norwich), but couldn't see any mention of this.  I'm not sure if it's a funny thing, something to be concerned about or even something that'd lead to an interesting discussion of some kind, but as I couldn't really pass up this gem, I present to you... Doctor Who and Star Wars clash.

Rather than make any rash statements or judgements (although I'm not lacking in any, truth be told), I think I'll leave that up to anyone else who wishes to make them.  Feel free to either ignore me or surprise me.  (Just don't get Toady freezing us up in Carbonite and then placing that in the Pandorica, and for good measure keeping that going round and round in a transporter buffer, locked into a diagnostic cycle, in a ship crashed onto the surface of a remote Dyson Sphere.)

Well in terms of which one is the most useful to me and which would I'd rather have in real life...

The Sonic Screwdriver.

Plus the Light Sabre would be a terrible weapon if you didn't have Jedi Powers. Imagine cutting into a car as super heated metal drips on your hand.

As for the news article, it is too stupid for me to pay attention to. I feel like even mentioning it would be giving it undue validation.

Seems like nothing happened, people just like the idea of a geek fight over something so trivial. Haha, look at the stupid nerds in their costumes fighting like typical stupid nerds! sort of thing.

Also, it is a tie. Sonic Screwdriver is basically plot resolving magic that fixes everything and is more abused than an actual magic wand, as such would be able to remotely shut down a light saber, but then what? Stale mate, mate!

I think of a 'Sonic' screwdriver as a corruption of 'Psionic' screwdriver.

Like the 'Psychic Paper' it's a Do-What-I-Mean tool.

I guess it's probably both, Psionic control of a Sonic effect.

The Crystal is the focus but they aren't part of the power generation of the lightsaber.
