In the case that the Doctor himself is a walking plot device as far as I can tell, I'll have to call the SCP foundation call it in.

Also, using a lightsabre without the Force isn't a recipe for amputation, it's just that the blade weighs nothing and it's kinda hard to handle because of that.

:o  :D. You know what I'm going to say... except that the SCP foundation is being run by a cloned doctor.

The thing is a giant gyroscope made out of plasma. That's why it's hard to handle.

My vernacular is unfortunately limited in that regard.

Honestly if there is one thing more of a cheat then the Sonic Screwdriver it is probably the force

Once you are strong enough in the force you pretty much don't need to train anymore because you are skilled in everything ever! It is actually quite insulting the things Obi-Wan gets away with because "The force tells him how to use it"

Yea, the force can be bullshit at times too.
Going off the movies, it doesn't seem as total bullshit as the Screwdriver as at least there are a multitude of people with such powers, so it isn't just an insta-win, as it will also be used against you.

Well in Doctor Who there are reasons why he doesn't face off against ordinary humans.

It has been hinted many times that if the Doctor really wanted to he could just wipe out entire species, races, and people.

I mean the Tardis is pretty much an indestructible box that can fly in any direction he wants.

Well killing off an entire race wouldn't be too hard when you can go back in time to their primitive tribes and declare open season.

Pnx

Now that raises some rather interesting ideas... Using the Tardis for a kinetic kill?

Well just to express how awesome the tardis is.

He could have an entire civilization, enough to fill an entire planet, inside his Tardis the entire time that we don't know about.

I mean everyone mentions the sonic screwdriver but the untapped potential is in the Tardis.

Also YEAH he can use the Tardis to just crush someone. One time he used it for a Car chase and had problem using it because it was meant for space flight (and thus such slight movements were difficult). Had he wanted to he could have just plowed it through everyone.

Heck the Lightsaber wouldn't be able to cut a Tardis.

Why the fuck does anyone watch the show? Hell, how is it even still on the air? Dude apparently has at least two god-tier items of Plot Device-itude that can do literally anything, not to mention he's immortal and a time traveler. There is no potential for drama unless the characters suffer ridiculous amounts of amnesia and forget all the crap they could do to solve any problem.

The problems he solves tend to either be problems that cannot be solved by technology, for example mysteries, or that are far beyond his Tardis and Sonic Screwdriver.

For example he faced off against beings who only exist when they are not being observed who have the ability to send you back in time using essentially super speed (Weeping Angels). He couldn't just smash a statue or aim his sonic screwdriver at them. He actually had to think of a solution.

Think of it like Dragon Ball Z. Goku can destroy planets and could eat nuclear explosions. Yet that show works because the enemies he faces are just as powerful or even more so.

Superman works even though his enemies tend to be weaker then him because of his aversion to kill. He had to hold back so he doesn't accidently kill anyone.

It works because the show is structured for the Tardis and Sonic Screwdriver.

The Lightsaber could easily be an overpowered weapon in a setting where people fight in Arenas in full suits of armor and metal weapons.

*Technically not. He can die.

And yeah, stuff tends to break every so often. The Tardis is only invincible in theory, and not even that. If the shields go down**, it's just a wooden box after all. There's also fixed points in time, which prevent the timetravel to solve every problem problem.

**Something they do with alarming frequency. Well, yeah, something you can expect from a millenia old craft flown by an incompetent pilot.

I don't even think he drives it. At one point it manifests itself in the form of a lady and it's revealed that he just hits the switch, having no goddamn idea where he's going.
I think.
