Stats: an Adventure of Blood, Books, and Self-Discovery
« on: May 09, 2013, 09:29:26 pm »

Flash. Flash. You awake in a poorly-lit room sitting on a wooden chair against a wall. The walls in front of you are a grey brick, of a stone you cannot identify. The room is roughly 5m x 5m and a wooden iron-reinforced door lays against the wall to your right. The wall in front of you has a table with a lit candle on it, and a chair tucked underneath. The wall to your left has a wooden door leading to places unknown. You have no recollection of how you got here or the reason you are here.

What do you do?

Well, lets start simple. Look at desk.

You get up from the chair which you had sat, or perhaps been put on? You do not remember. You take some steps towards the desk, the first noticable features are two draweres, one on each side, leaving just enough room for the chair. As you reach the desk you see two die, each of which are six-sided. along with a note. The rest of the desk is bare except for the candle, which resides in the upper right corner.

You pick up the note, the oldness of the parchment is the first thing you feel as you raise it to your face, where you can see the old and yellowish tint of the note, along with plenty of small creases and where the ink is faded in some places. When you get the note up to your face, it reads, "Roll the dice." the familiarity of the writing seems to spark a memory, but does not stay long enough for you to remember anything. In your now sqaushed excitement of a new memory, you had dropped the note, which now resides on the wooden floor.

You believe you should roll the dice, as this idea was created when you first saw the dice, and further enticed when you read the note. You pick up the die in your hand and roll them onto the table. You roll a total of 7. The room tremors slightly for a few seconds. During which you looked at the floor and noticed the note landed upside-down, and has writing on the back, reading "Pay the price.". After reading you feel a sharp pain inside your body, and almost topple over, but manage to keep your balance. The pain is still there after the tremors end.

Check pockets. Actually, check clothes, as in what clothes do we have?

Knock on the door seven times.

Gods dammit... Why do I remember that? I knew reading would be a good idea! It probably would have ended better if SOMEONE hadn't jumped the gun. Fight through the pain and search the drawers.

Knock on the door seven times.

You are wearing a generic grey shirt and black pants. The pants have two pockets, one on each leg. Reaching into the pockets reveal nothing dwelling within. Which door do you wish to knock on? The pain is still there.

You reach for the right drawer, Wincing as you bend down and attempt to pull it out. After a short struggle it opens, revealing an old book without a title. Opening the left drawer is much easier. However the drawer appears to be empty.

Well then. Read THE BOOK!

You reach for the book, and as you do, you get goosebumps, and the room starts to get colder. As you grab the book, You get a feeling as if thousands of souls are climbing up your arm telling you to stop and not grab it. But you as you touch the book, which is incredibly cold for the warmth of the room, Your hand is frozen to the book. And then it happens. You feel as if a raging bear is trying to rip itself out of your chest, and deep cuts appear on your arm, dripping dark red blood onto the book, which pools at where the title would be. As this happens, your abdomen splits open and you are blinded with pain, you feel cuts open all over your body with blood flowing out of them and as your organs along with lots of blood and some half-digested food and excrements flow out, you see fire blaze on the pool of blood that formed on the book, spelling "Stats".

Flash. Flash. The pain is gone. And as you look down at your body you are relieved to see none of your organs are outside of your body. Your hand is still on the book, which is now at room temprature, and has the title "Stats". You feel as if part of you is missing, yet a part of you that is not of physical origins. The pain from when you rolled the dice is gone.

Do you still wish to read the book?

After a minute of recuperation from the horrifying experience you just went through, You open the small book.

...

Was the book this small before? It now appears to be very small, at most 20 pages. As questioning as you are of the book, you open it to the first page; in which you see lots of what you think is ink moving around the pages. Is it really ink? You don't want to know, and instead look at where the "ink" is not moving. At the top of the page it says "Stats of" followed by more moving ink. Under that it reads "Soul: 13/20", and below that; "Health: 19/20" The rest of the page and all the other pages are filled with the moving ink.

We should probably think of our name. I think it was Kyle.

As you attempt to remember your name, your vision blacks out and you hear a female voice say softly "I think I'll name you Kyle." As vision returns you see the book has changed , it now reads "Stats of Kyle" followed by another small patch of moving ink. You also notice Soul's number has risen from 13, to 16.9. You hear some noises outside the wooden door.
