No. I suppose there are similarities, but I'm fairly certain angry birds doesn't let me charge into a battalion of knights with a car made of circular saws.

I'm aiming to replace the 80mm without losing power, I don't think 100mm will have the power that I want for the gun.
But I'll see after this turn, if the 120mm is to complicated I'll drop it in favor of an updated 100mm.

I would like to see a 240mm cannon as well for ships, something that can be used on medium class ships for long range power since the 320mm has to much kick.
Dude, double 160mm is more than enough for solo raiding. Though, if you're REALLY not sure on that light of a fire, how bout I have a contingent Main armament of twin 240mms? Nice compromise between 160 and 320(though I'd prefer to base the main guns on current tech)
If my 240mm howitzer is supported then it should be easily converted into a naval gun. And I figure that it is fast enough that it doesn't have to fire when it isn't ready, nut I basically only chose 320mm because it exists and it has range. I would dearly love for my 240mm artillery piece to be accepted and then turned into a naval gun when it is finished. If we can get a 40mm and a 240mm gun perfected, then we should have a template for all the guns in between...

Kamvia works for me...

We already have a 40mm gun RAM. It's called the HVG-40 :P

While I don't think your gun has a chance this turn, I've decided to run a theoretical proposal that assumes it's been accepted and redesigned my Courageous based on that(remember this is just theoretical speculation for this thread only!) and brood's 120mm as well as my Jackhammer

Courageous class Cruiser. A redesign of the Glorious, with a new hull with a wider beam(and a double hull for torpedo defense). It will incorporate  a twin-240mm turret mounted forward and a single 240mm aft, two twin-120mm turrets mounted just below the 240mms, 4 open mount HVG-80s, 4 open mount twin HVG-40 turrets, 6 GVS-25 Jackhammers, and several rail-mounted GVS-14s. It should also include a radar and sonar suite, and limited ASW(one depth charge rack that can be converted to lay mines as needed). Up the armor as much as possible while still retaining a reasonable speed(~30 knots) for around ~4000 tons total displacement.

I'll do the proposal tonight, I've got to go out and I have one of my own to write up as well so it'll have to wait until then.

On a different note:

Taricus, I know UR and I gave you shit about your tank project and ubercannon, but they seem to actually be coming out at a good time(the difference between a waste of time and effort and a good idea all appears to be timing it seems :P). Now the question on whether or not we can field enough to make a meaningful impact in this current conflict is a different matter, but hey, we at least now have a new main cannon for the k-1s!

Hey, that's fine. And hey, it probably needed the changes you suggested in order to be truely viable too. Came up with a different name for it, but that explaination is in the proposal :P

I may also be designing a newer light tank as a replacement for the Badgers too. An extra 10mm frontal armour, a 400kw engine and a HVG-40 as standard. Good idea or not?

not much difference between my Badger Mk-IV(the one matching my modernization program) and that(only 10mm thicker armor, which isn't that much in the scheme of things). Make something like that with a three-man turret(which always worked better than cramped-two man turrets) and it might be viable though

I'm liking the name better anyways. What is a Ratel though?

Also, interesting note. While the better diesel is nice, it's actually not all that necessary right now. Unless there's some math I'm not aware of, I get a combined horsepower for two diesels at 800 kw, which is more than enough to give a 39 ton K-1 a power-to-weight ratio of 20 kw per ton. That should propel the K-1 at blazing fast speeds(and it already got decent speeds with the two gas engines at around 24 miles an hour!)

For reference, 800 kw is 1,073 horsepower!

Ratel is a name for the Honey badger. I'm going to just let you google that :P

And DAMN, the refitted K-1s will be fast, atleast about 60km/h at minimum. And hell, I think our engines are already surpassing most WW2 designs. Heck, the K-1s could get away with being fitted with only one 400Kw engine and still move faster than most tanks.

I always failed to understand why we need freaking 800kw inside K-1s (Khan1234 brought that in)

70 ton Tiger 2 had 500kw engine and did just fine....

eh, true, though it'd have considerably worse kw-wieght ration(only about 10-per-ton).

Wanna know something that'll blow your mind even more? Our badgers at around 25kw per ton with the new diesel! That's a tank that weighs only 16 tons at most having an engine good enough to give it 25 horsepower per ton of vehicle. Goddamn we need a better suspension badly, otherwise it'd be throwing tracks like crazy!

I'll point out UR the tiger II didn't actually do all that well(though the ENGINE was okay), so that's not a good comparison  :P

It would probably need to be enlarged to fit two of the larger engines, which would mean more armour and therefore more weight. And then there is G.M. fiat, which could further spoil your fun. But a fast K-1 would certainly be entertaining. Or boringly overpowered, these things can go either way I suppose...

Yes, and if I can get my 240mm working we will have good guns at either end of the spectrum, giving us a good foundation for any guns between.

Tiger 2 did have its issues, if a Tiger could reverse as quickly as a sherman could advance...

Well, the new tank DOES have a torsion bar suspension system. Could use that in any new tank designs.
