...Well, thanks to the wording of my last post, I can still say that the battlebus' armour is weaker than intended, though it gets the K-1 out of it.
its still angled enough to bounce a 60 mm low velocity, a 40mm medium velocity, or anything short of a critical hit from an hmg fire. it would be lucky to stop dedicated anti tank rounds, but even actual tanks wont always stop them.

Also, Taricus: I remeber this being quoted a while back:

Quote from: Nadaka
The requested armor thickness will weight in excess of 30 tons for armor alone and will require a major and perhaps all consuming investment in manpower for the next several years if it is to have performance much better than the old SPIA.

You do realize he means that we'd need to invest a majority of our engineers in this one project for this to be completed in a timely fashion(and that will STILL take a couple years from the sound of it). And even then, there's no guarantee of success.

I'll tell you what, cut the armor thickness by 1/3rd and decrease the angles a little(to reduce weight even more), and I'll support this. It'll still be a tank a good deal more advanced than our current designs, and after looking over the 78mm again, since it's actually a good ways completed I'll support it too

No. I suppose there are similarities, but I'm fairly certain angry birds doesn't let me charge into a battalion of knights with a car made of circular saws.

I cut the armour by about 1/8 to 1/6 of the total amount on it (Varies by side, since they all got different values.) The angle is similiar to the front armour on the K-1, just applied to every side. The angle shouldn't affect the weight though, since that's all just positioning rather than the actual material beng used.

Yes a mobile 320mm gun will be slow and impracticable but Karl-Gerät was "mobile" just, it managed 10 km/h with a 580hp engine, so it can be done.
but really we should try rockets, there launch gear is smaller.

70mm armour on the front, 55mm on the sides and 40mm on the rear.

Never specified one for the top/bottom, so assume the rear armour value for that.

I'd go 20mm top and bottom myself(40mm is just overkill there, and brings unnecessary weight). Drop the front to 65mm(which roughly equates to a 20% drop across the board if my math is correct) And you have my vote, as that makes for a very improved tank without it being ridiculously more advanced than what we have.(It's something we could probably get if we upgrade the K-1 to include bolted-on armor plates, though that would be a bit heavy for the chassis)

Karl-Gerät is a mortar with a very short barrel (and resulting short range)

Standard 320mm gun has a huge barrel and that is a problem, barrel will act like an epic lever and flip any carrying vehicle, unless it's length isn't comparable

Well, I could make the sides 50mm instead Tryrar. May save even more weight without sacrificing as much protection.

That'll work, and since the sides cover more surface area(relatively speaking) weight(and subsequently cost) will come down even more as well. Good idea

Okay, 75mm on the front, 50mm on the sides and 40mm on the rear, all that 45 degree angles.

This offers a quite good protection of 112mm effective protection on the front, 75mm on the sides and 60mm on the rear. This thing is going to be good once we get it into production.

........did you just increase it by 5mm in the front from what I said I was happy with? Dude, 70mm in the front, 50mm on the sides, and 40mm on the rear is still good enough. You're still getting over 100mm effective armor in the front there buddy.

Damn, you compromise and inch, they try to take a mile. Sheesh....

Oh, if it was a mistake then :P

Alrighty, 70mm front, 50mm sides, and 40mm rear, we're agreed? I'll try to save a vote for it and the tank cannon then...

Edit: I also have a name for it. T-2 Bobcat(the Badger being the T-1)
