Kahn, should I ask why you're repeating the same proposals as last turn? Most, if not all of those things were done by other actions...

Maritime engines are heavier, due to larger fuel requirements and having to carry their own maintenance parts, they probably have larger linkages and such for sticking many engines in a line to drive a large ship. For whatever reason, the last timethat RAM saw a diesel-powered ship its engines were heavier than just the engines...

I will point out that's likely taken into account with the diplacement. And even then, I don't expect the total weight would equal 1200 tons, not by a longshot(at most I'd say double my total for 320 tons, still plenty of room for all the guns I want)

No. I suppose there are similarities, but I'm fairly certain angry birds doesn't let me charge into a battalion of knights with a car made of circular saws.

....I'm not sure actually. I've got improving sonar down, UR has a ground attack/dive bomber with a nasty 40mm gun, we have SPGs, tanks, and transports, and we have subs and a decent surface fleet.

....Just about the only things I can think of are the Glorious refit I was talking about, or inventing sub snorkels

What about our own four-engine plane?

Ok, I'll not recheck your math, I believe you. Still I suggest some changes to make it cheaper mostly

1) Do get rid of 80mm guns. Those aren't really needed for close range AA defense, and are too week for Ship vs Ship warfare
2) Throw mines out
3) Do not develop new twin 160mm turrets, instead move existing 160mm turrets to sides, to act like new secondary armament complenmenting new 320mm main guns ( in this way we well save effort designing\producing new twin turrets, and reuse existing ones without scrapping them)
4) Add more engines to try too boost speed to 45 km\h or more
5) Consider adding some space for recon baloon\helicopter\floatplane
6) Consider adding more AA firepower, especially single 14mms (those are also useful to shoot down incoming torpedoes)
7) do that as subproposal to RAM's project as it will be close enough

RAM wants a 320mm mobile artillery piece for suppression of hard targets and long range.

RAM feels that RAM's proposal would suffer from being made heavier. As larger ships mean more tonnage can be lost to a lucky hit and it is more difficult to produce and manoeuvre. Although large would be more stable a platform to shoot from.

There's something I would like: Proximity detonation. I will add a proposal and explanation for that later.

Point taken UR, I'll delete the 80mms. I was also thinking about adding a small hedgehog emplacement so as to be able to at least defend against subs, but that's not a priority

RAM
While I agree that lighter ship with 2 320mm have it's advantages over the Glorious' refit I think that it's easier for our engineers to design new ships based on old designs. Also, refiting cruisers at repair docks is much less expensive than building lighter ships from scratch

Truth is that our cruisers are slow, undergunned and can't defend themself against aviation. Remaking them into something useful should be high priority navalwise That shouldn't be too expensive now, when we have 8000 repair dock

Right, updated proposal two to be a basic four-engine aircraft. Link to the post is here -> http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=125538.msg4246315#msg4246315

Nice, simple, and something that could be useful. Too bad I don't have votes left!

Eh, I think UR's dive bomber is more important(no offense), and I used up my other 4 on proposals
