Scandinavia: 2104 AD: Early Spring (Week 2)
5 soldier, 5 farmers: Gather water
5 medics : Look over wounded people
10 engineers: Make primitive spears
40 people: Explore the hangar
30 people: Explore the labs
You send some farmers with the soldiers to gather water. When they arrive they find the river frozen. Not dissuaded by this setback, they try to find a spot to break through the ice, and carefully start hammering it with a stone. The thumping resounds over the fields and plains, and attracts unwanted attention. A white shadow glides through the crisping snow, coming closer, ever closer, breaks into a sprint and leaps, knocking over the suprised victims, and closing it jaws around the suprised farmer.
The soldiers react quickly, opening fire on the beast. However, they can't seem to wound it effectively. When asked about it later in the debriefing, they attribute it to a variety of reasons. Not wanting to hit their commerade, snow blindness, suprise, weapon malfunctioning due to the cold... Maybe it was just bad luck. Nobody knows. However, those few bullets that hit were enough to make the beast flinch ,and drop it's prey. He's currently in the small hospital ward the team has set up in one of the abandonned areas of the lab. The four others there are in much better state, and expected to be released next week.
Having noticed this threat, some engineers have spent their time trying to make primitive spears. They're hampered a bit with the crude instruments they have, but do manage to succeed to make 10 "spears". It's highly unlikely that sharpened sticks like these will stop the beast you've encountered, but all things help, you suppose.
Better news comes from the team exploring the hangar. While most of the team found little else than scrap under it's collapsed ceiling, one team managed to find a heavily damaged, but still repairable APC. It's gunturret on top is broken, the electronics are busted, the engine is mostly gone, and little remains of doors and wheels, but the frame's fine. It also increases the hope for other things that might be discovered below the hangar.
The Science teams have similair finds, nothing more than more empty rooms, and other stuff. That is, safe from the last group, which accidentally stumbles on something far more interesting. The lab's auxilary power generator, in pristine state, and several fuel cells, enough to last you for several months.
