We're talking about a game's main focus. If the main focus is killing shit deathmatch style, I'm not interested.

In which you don't play as the dinosaur.

Are you doing this on purpose? ;)

Anyway, I didn't intend to derail the thread- this has gone on far enough already. Sorry for the rant. I'm dropping out.

For what it's worth, I'm totally with you on that and made the same mistake when I clicked on this topic. Wildlife simulator games are way, way underrepresented for reasons I've never been able to fathom. Dinosaurs would be awesome, as would plenty of other things. A first-person spider web-building game where you're leaping off unbelievably high places to set up your web and encountering towering insects and birds 20 times your size. A bird (or bat!) game where you're trying to complete a yearly migration across the continent without starving or getting lost/eaten. Any given animal faces a ton more unique and interesting challenges than most games offer, as well as the chance of seeing the world from a completely new perspective...

If I was president of the world we'd have a lot more pterosaur sims is all I'm saying.

So uh, wow. This made $100,000 over it's $20k goal. Guess we'll be eating dino steaks, sometime soon.

You could during it's Kickstarter campaign.
But yeah, it's a bit sad that you cannot do that any more.
Ah well, it's still 5 days till it's release.

After watching the livestream a couple of days ago, I have mixed feelings. It looks very atmospheric, but the crafting system seems a bit obnoxious. So I dunno. I still really like the feature list, but the execution isn't there yet and I'm not overly impressed with what they've added so far. It looks better than some other survival games out atm (Rust, et al) in some ways, but the bar's pretty low so that's not exactly very difficult.

Cautiously hopeful. It has a long way to go, though.

So RPS has been playing it.

And their reaction is what you should probably come to expect from any EA game of this scope.

In that, there are few if any features that are complete. Dinosaur pathing and behavior is servicable but awkward. There's no collisions between models. The list of things go on.

EA has always been buyer beware, but I dunno, I thought Stomping Land would come out of the gate fairly strong. But Graham Smith compares it pretty unfavorably to the early days of DayZ.

So if the game piqued your interest, it's probably best to give it another few months at least.

I saw a new release in my feed today, Beasts of Prey. I assumed this game was renamed, but apparently not. I wonder who cribbed off of who, both of them having been released so close together.

Anyone play this yet? I got it (because dinosaurs>zombies in my book, I guess), but I am away from my computer and forced to play on a much weaker machine so playing it is impossible.

I think i read about Stomping land first so either BoP was a similar project that went under the radar or its "The new WarZ dino edition".
Hopefully it's more of a valid non scammy competition rather than the latter.

Why would someone want to copy this game? It's currently in a really poor state and gets a lot of negative reviews. DayZ was different as people loved the game, even in its early stages
