I'll put up a full mod list with the next update. Its not a pack I found but one I assembled on my own. If I find the time I'll make the pack available as well.

Edit: From the suggestions it looks like you want to see...

1. A mineshaft ending in lava, with some way to move lava to the surface.
2. Creating a wand and starting on thaumcraft research.

Next update is already partway done but I'll get right on those.

love the story telling.

Have you ever done the thaumcraft research tree?

either way, i suspect that you'll be making random new discoveries at the research table at appropriate times, you definitely won't have the resources to do the research for a while - you can do transmutation from researching metal, but a lack of magic aspect will hold you back from doing stuff on the left hand side of the initial research tree.

a source of food is probably your next step - most things with seeds will help thaumcraft, anything with seeds will help with bees (seed oil for creating hive-parts) (some mod added items don't have aspects, and don't squeeze), finally biofuel production for energy is helped by fruit and saplings from trees.

chicken farms give feathers as well as meat, cow farms give leather. Animal farms need seeds or wheat to run, so i guess it depends on which way you wish to go (and what mods you have installed).

Hell if I know.  Pretty humourous suggestion, but utterly useless in the case of roleplaying, if indeed the whole game world was one whole huge ass field of fruit.

I was thinking a farm would be an excellent next step.

is natura in the pack?
if so farming berry bushes would be awesome.
Since you don't know when or if you find your friends you need to plan ahead and create a renewable food source.
Wheat farms are a good first step. they grow nicely along cotton. concentrate on chicken farming. their eggs will be useful.
Should you find the diamond required to tip your pick i suggest obsidian pipes under the "chicken pen" to start with basic automation.
eggs have transmutatio, too.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Not much exciting stuff here. Got tired of living in an old ruin, found a big tree, figured it would be cool. I did a bit of TC research and will write more about that, and I'll be doing a catalog of animals of sorts. I wish there was a way to make certain mobs not despawn, so I could make a zoo.

Very very nice! Moving the smelting thingy will probzbly be long and tedious, though...
And is that a Zelda mod?!

No, the force gems and the gauntlet. The name made me think about Zelda, plus it looks like an item from minish cap.
