Fish always displaying as none

I have a fisherdwarf or two going to a nearby river, catching fish, putting them in barrels and returning them to my general-purpose stockpile.  I have had a dwarf on bookkeeping for some time now with maximum precision, and other items show up in the correct quantity.  I have built a fishery and a kitchen.  However, my status screen shows "none" for the number of fish I have.  Why would this be?  My fort is really struggling to get by on veggies at the moment.

Fish cleaner needs to clean fish at the fishery before they are edible. They are probably currently listed under "raw fish" in z-stocks menu.
