Seriously. No offense, but it's infuriating whenever I see people in the UK complaining about their extremely low tuition fees.

Ah, but the reason people complain is that not so long ago, the government would actually give you the money to pay for most of your costs. Now, with wages/job market being how they are, often people are better off not going. No idea how the US system remains financially viable.

Anyway, back to decadance. I once bought a boat, with the sole intention and purpose of blowing it up.

It isn't viable. It leaves most young people tens of thousands if not more in debt.

Something's going to give, one of these days. Within 15 years, most Baby Boomers will be retired. Millennials have over a trillion in student debt, if I recall correctly, and we can't find work.

That's bearable, if obnoxious, for 20-somethings. But we won't be 20-somethings in 10 years, we'll be at the theoretical peak of our lives.

Be interesting to see what'll happen politically with it...

@Footjob, you can microwave most grains I've tried pretty easily through the microwave, even if they aren't packaged for it.

I have quite an expensive copy of Mein Kampf signed by Arthur Seyss-Inquart, Reichskommissar of the Netherlands, but I can't read it because it's all in German. It's just having it that mattered.

I have three guitars and I'm looking at a fourth. Granted, they're cheap as far as guitars go (~$100 each for the guitars new, plus a bass + amp for $150) but they're probably the most expensive things I own other than my computer, which I count as a necessity for school and suchlike.

One claims to be a Fender Starcaster, but I suspect it's a cheap solid-body fakery. I got it via eBay because my sister recommended it. The damn thing hardly works unless you spend ten minutes fiddling with the cord, and it doesn't sound good at all. Never taking my sister's advice again.

The second one I got from an actual music shop with legitimate products. It's a nylon-string acoustic from a company called Valencia or something like that. It sounds pretty nice, but it's nothing special (that might have something to do with my own skill though :P)

The bass I got from a friend. I can't read the brand name (it's written in loopy cursive), but it's a pretty popular brand in my area. The amplifier that came with the fake Starcaster sounds pretty good with it.

I'm thinking about getting a steel-string acoustic with one of those amplifier-out thingies what's built into them and all that jazz. It's a pain trying to put a microphone on the nylon strings, and there's certain songs that just don't sound good on that type of guitar.

I have an ESP F-50 LTD. Wolfeyez has the Floyd Rose version. Curse you, MZ, and your not shelling out an extra $50 for whammy bar goodness!

It was an 11-course "lunch"

I've done 9-course wine dinners. They are oh so delicious when done correctly. Unfortunately, the easiest ones to find are those hosted by wineries, which of course tend to want to only serve their own wines. That doesn't always work.

If you ever have the chance to attend one of these events hosted by someone whose goal is to throw a good dinner rather than to promote their own wines, I highly recommend it.

Back in college, there was a really good local Cajun/Creole restuarant that paired off with an awesome microbrewery to offer a five-course meal with a different pint of beer with each course (including dessert). Sooooooo gooooood. Although the chocolate bread pudding plus a chocolate porter was almost too much.

Not so much anymore. Dubai was a boom town in the 2000's, but they've taken a nosedive in recent years, to the point where they had to get some bailouts from Abu Dhabi.

Which fit pretty well with the whole decadent theme. Decadent doesn't mean successful.

Isn't there some region that was making a crescent moon-shaped island?

It's known as the Oppai-Kaiju effect. The islands of Japan generate a sort anti-gravity field, which allows breasts to behave as if in microgravity. It's also what allows Godzilla and friends to become 50 stories tall, and lets ninjas run up the side of a skyscraper.

Well, they have the palm islands.

Last I heard, those things were having serious trouble surviving against the natural currents, requiring tons of sand and gravel to continuously be dropped off to prevent erosion.
