That looks like it'l sink beneath the sea in the first major storm. Perfect place to put a secret lair, if we're going for decadance.

I thought those Seven Sins glasses were the tackiest luxury thing I'd ever seen, and God help me for wanting them so bad.  But that... boat?  That is the tackiest thing I've ever seen.

It's not tacky, it just transcends all previous conceptions of "style."

All I can think of is how good it'd be in a zombie apocalypse. Seriously, replace the chlorinated water in the pool with fresh, cover it up to keep debris out, set up some tubes to run rainwater in there, and you have a massive reservoir for drinking. Remove the silly fake huts and keep vegetable gardens in the plots. Supplement vegetables with fish you catch. Plenty of room for people and supplies, and it's so high up that zombies would never be able to climb over the railing.

That's one of the most expensive islands on that site. They start at about $40k. Some of the really "inexpensive" ones are just plots of land on islands, though. Especially in Fiji.

They're way less expensive than I expected, and it would be cool to own an entire independent landmass. Might be able to do something useful with it as well.

For what? Most people aren't rich enough to flip them to, you can't maintain a celebrity status that far from civilization (not that any of us would want to,) you'd have to pay taxes on them the entire time you owned them, and starting up industry of any kind is a logistical nightmare. On top of that, it's damn near impossible and highly impractical to declare independence.

Realistically, I doubt that island would support an underground lair.

I'm sure you could come up with some kind of kickstarter project along those lines nonetheless.
