!!FUN!! below, Titans above and forgotten beasts in the middle.
My fortress is called Boardpasses, but I wonder if Clusterscrewed would have been a better name.

Also, the name translates to:
Xun Bloatedbrews the Valley of Vegetation.

Wut?

Edit:
I have also now managed to catch a giant cave spider. Now this thing might come in handy when fighting fun stuff.

Mine some enclosed fortifications around your fort, sealed behind raised drawbridges. Link these fortifications to your demon horde.
Open the drawbridges whenever you want to unleash your hot and cold running demonic artillery.
I really like this idea.  The militia marksdwarves won't get unhappy thoughts from being stationed for long periods anymore.

Heavy spoilers for fun stuff.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

And shortly after:
Note: Not the same FB.
So, my queen was having a meeting, rushed down the hallway, sees this giant fowl made out of water, dodges the spittle, rolls and punches its head off.

Edit 2:
Queen was caught nomming a dwarf and has been sentenced to prison for 200 days.
In case of monster emergency, I am linking the cage to a lever.

And the scaly, winged slug having a regal bearing doesn't even surprise anyone.

Do you have any artifact furniture? You could build it to lure demons somewhere you can shoot them from safety.

What isn't on fire is in my queens rooms to keep her satisfied.

Hum, seems like having the caravan arrive at the scene also attracted all the migrant traders to my depot.

I find it slightly funny that the first thing any migrant sees is the overly bloody outside of my fort. Considering that there is no rain in a bloody freezing biome, it never goes away.

Edit:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

This is somehat of an achievement I think.

Edit 2:

Another nasty beast has arrived:
23rd Granite, year 261.
The name translated to "Profaneclam".

Hmm, unfortunately it managed to gore my Queen vampire when she rushed forward to punch it.
At the moment she is unable to breathe and have a broken spine, but she is a vampire, so she might pull through.

One dorf's overly bloody is another dorf's head start!

Am I the only one who finds the large, serrated naked mole dog bone disc strange?

I ended up using an earlier save from before the great Queen Vampire spine breaking scene. I don't think it is possible to heal from a broken spine, and having a vampire crawl around in the fort would be rather annoying. Just imagine everyone having a pair of bites on their legs.

Also, the details of the bone disk.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Another forgotten beast appears. This time a skinless gila monster.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

The brave soldier dwarves manage to defeat it, but not before it kills a speardwarf by chewing on his lower spine.

In Dwarf Fortress? Yeah, pretty much. :)

@Julien: Wow, that queen is kick-ass. Kudos!

Do vampires in DF breathe?

Nope. But a broken spine still leaves them crawling around.

EDit:

17th Sandstone, 261:

A giant dimetrodon has appeared, a forgotten beast with a poisonous sting.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Though one of the soldiers lost their hand and another got a broken shoulder, my axelord armed with a silver axe more or less chopped this forgotten beast into pieces.

A question guys, can a constructed building lifted several stories up into the air knock a hole in the ground if it is disconnected from the rest of the building?

Edit 2:
11th Obsidian mid winter.
A bone carver makes a reacher bone war hammer. I am not that impressed.

Through various trades I have now managed to clad my vampire queen in decent armor, and given her a steel battle axe.

Now to train her into a defiant warrior through a montage.

Anyone got any suggestions for some training exercises?

Drop stuff on them. Coinstars.

Either that or poke them with lots of dull wooden sticks training spears. Danger rooms

Or, if you want to go a more traditional route, enlist a bunch of other soldiers to train with them for a couple years strait. Fighting off goblins or elves or something helps too.
