..............................

When I heard about their End-Of-Kickstarter Goals I was like...

"Bitch, don't make me give you more money."

Then I wake up this morning and check my Emails...

Dwarves are going to be a post-release goal, which I'm OK with.

Frankly, I wouldn't be surprised to see a delay or two. I won't expect the release until, oh, two or three months after the scheduled release.

I got confirmation that Stonehreath is going to be a very very easy game.

While they hinted that there may be a mode to make it more difficult... It is the loosest of hints.

Yeah, IIRC they keep mentioning a hardcore mode every time they talk about something !FUN! like resource scarcity and there's a confirmed 'no attacks, no starvation' mode for people who want to play Sim Town.

Regardless, it will probably take me a week to mod the game into something unrecognisable.

The modding tools that you are getting are literally the tools that we use to make the entire game. So, if you want to in, and I mean really go in, and make something super complicated and extensive, like if you want to make a total conversion, like people are settling on the moon and you have to build moon buggies and space suits and mine gas, you can do it. You can totally do it. It would be a tonne of work but you can do it. All the gameplay systems that we built, we built with the modding tools...

Now there is a tiny bit of difference in that you don't have access to the engine source but the engine is as small as we can possibly make it. The engine handles tasks such as rendering to the screen, handling keystrokes and mouse input, and... pathfinding, but we give you access to the pathfinder in lua... All the gameplay systems, all the classes, all the crafting, the way building works, all the UI is built on the modding framework. You have access to that. If you want to go super deep, you can do it... and that's the point. If someone is super ambitious and wants to do crazy stuff, they can do it.

This alone will probably make this game worth the price of admission.

So, Alpha is out.

Having played it, I get the feeling that I got playing the Minecraft Alpha. There is a lot of potential here, but it's going to take time. Right now, we're just moving blocks around, but soon, they will be very interesting blocks.

From what I've seen it's very buggy at the moment, but the devs are definitely working hard and released a patch the day of release.

Yeah it is pretty buggy.
On multiple occasions my villagers just stopped building walls to just stand there. They even stopped stockpiling the wood that they chopped earlier.
The menus in game arent resizable so if you have a small screen you have to hide the taskbar to see some of the menus.
But overall its neat and looks promising.

Apart from the bugs, I take it there are major features missing?

As of right now you can build small houses (that dont work) build a carpenter workshop and craft some items like fences (that do work)
