They even cited DF as both awesome and an inspiration!

You know, if they get up to the higher stretch goal levels, I could see this being a potential Big Game, though it's not likely to be the next minecraft. Still, multiplayer co-op would be a huge potential feature to add, and I hope they make that level.

I dunno, the stretch goals are kinda turning me off to be honest.  Especially the "Pirates/Ninja's/Politicians." one.  I'm starting to wonder if this is just going to be a parody style game?

It doesn't seem like the sort of thing that really needs multiplayer to me either.

oh nothing, it's just that i have a deep personal hatred for animu graphics

and the minecraft 'voxel' style is really getting old, i'm tired of new games trying to copy it

This is the first time I think I've heard using an art style another game uses as 'copying it'.

The game itself looks interesting but I'll wait to see what they come up with when it's done, been burned a few times from various 'donate now I swear we'll have a game later!' deals.  I love the concept of kickstarter but have to be a bit more conservative with my spending.

Still, something to watch.

I'm fine with the gameplay style, the art style, the way they are handling things, generally, that is. The only probably I have got so far is how they handle the kickstarter funding. IIRC co-op multiplay was 'promised', but as they realised they were going to exceed the goal, they pushed it aaaall the way back to 400,000 pledge goal. Now that's just dirt cheap.

It makes sense if you actually consider the way Kickstarter works. And I think that it'll reach that level, too.

Hmm. Could have potential. I'll have to look into this more when I'm not at work.

shameless bump!
just found out about this

is it just me, or are they using DF terms? NVM just saw this on the FAQ
Uh, is this like Dwarf Fortress?

OMG Dwarf Fortress is awesome, right? We want a Dwarf Fortress feel, in that we want to build complex, inter-related simulations that you can manage, and just watch your settlers live their lives in an ant-farmish kind of way...until disaster happens, then maybe some of them stop living their lives all together. We won't have the incredible depth of Dwarf Fortress at the start, but as long as there's support for the game, we'll keep adding more and more things to do.

Ok fine, "I" the most negative and cynical person ever will see what this game has to offer.

*Checks out the video*

Well it is very interesting and has a lot of potential. Yet what I really want to look at, for example can we craft our own armor or is it just from presets or can we alter the presets to out likings or can we play together, isn't available in that video.

7/10 Hmm

*Checks kickstarter*

Dear goodness You guys better get it to 400k!

9/10! MUST GET!

This is where my cynical nature kicks in. Is this "Cheaty mod" or does the game actually recognize the stats and gives it its stats? As well the fact that you cannot pause game for craft modification is disheartening.

7/10 :( I am sad now

So in my conclusion it seems to be a "A good game to support but your decision" with an 8 being a "Good game to support, it is worth a try" and a 9 being a "Everyone should support this kind of game" with 10 being the best of the 9s.

If you watch the dev video, Neonivek, it says that you get to create stuff with built in editor, give them stats, and share it with friends and people worldwide. So my assumption is that it would work somewhat like spore in terms of building / sharing creations. Though in the end it might get shallow, since most things will pretty much be the same but with slightly different label applied to it.

I backed it. Simply because I want pvp raids and co op multiplayer to happen. You should as well.

What I want to know is does it have magic?

Because it makes everything better. And it spices up crafting. Crafting following the normal laws of the universe has such limited applications generally. Weapons and armor can only have so many mundane capabilities. I mean, making machines is comparably complex but tends to fall out of the era most of these voxel crafting games take place in.

I actually can't, there are actually a few things (including donating to LCS) that I cannot do because my Bank doesn't allow me to use certain methods of payment and oddly enough paypal.

I mean I GUESS I could gift 10-15 dollars worth of Steam or GoG games to someone and have them include me in their double tiers.
