You are an imprisoned alchemist
« on: April 30, 2013, 08:16:14 pm »

Waking up from a deep slumber, you can feel your head throbbing. Everything seems just a little too bright, and your intestines feel like they're burning. Blinking quickly, the effects that feel strangely like a hangover, though you've never touched the bottle in your life before, quickly subside. You look around, and see that you're in somewhere totally unknown to you. You try to remember what you did that led up to this, but you draw a blank. Actually, just about everything draws a blank. Looking around, you see a note  taped in front of a large collection of jars, vials, and bowls, as well as some devices for alchemy.
Deciding to check over the note, it reads as follows: "As you said that you were an alchemist at the tavern, I have a simple job for you to do. You must unlock the secret of the Philosopher's Stone. Should you complete this, you will be released. Otherwise, you will be in here for quite some time."
Well, isn't this a nice little situation? Next, you look at the equipment and... Things. Somehow, you can identify the various ingredients on sight, and for a few of them, even a general feeling of what they do.

Mix ground crow's eye and terroot together.

Then wait 5~ seconds for a reaction, and then add a merfolk fin.

You decide to mix some of the grounds crow's eye with a bit of the terroot together. You decide to wait about five seconds to view the results. Nothing seems to happen, so you throw in a bit of the Merfolk fin. The splash from the terroot extract doesn't seem to sting as it should have, and quickly you feel warmth emanating from the concoction (New mixture: Warmth). Behind the various items, you notice as well a small, cloudy vial you didn't before. You've got no idea what it is, and it resembles water, although it's doubtful something so mundane would be here. You glance back at the ingredients, and notice that the containers of the ingredients seem to have refilled. As a side note, the descriptions of the items aren't going to be changed until the players give a new descriptor for it.

Search for empty vessel, in it mix small amount of own blood with equal amount contents of mystery vial.  Do not contaminate mystery vial.

It's useful to keep a ‼torch‼ handy.

Actually, I was just about to post. I was busy, and trying to figure out which suggestion to use. It'll be up in a couple minutes, if that.

Curious about what this odd vial contains, you decide to find a clean, empty container somewhere. You opt for a small vial near the equipment. Cutting your self on a hard stone edge nearby, you fill it about 1/2 of the way. You pour the liquid in, and it begins to foam the instant it leaves the vial, and it releases a vapor that seemingly disappears in mere seconds. As it touches the blood, it dilutes quickly, until becoming exactly like the fluid, and evaporates.

You decide to try a bit of the obsidian with the troll skin. The troll skin seems to undergo a strange change. Magical energy surrounds it, and soon you have two pieces: One that is a piece of fine, strangely cooked meat and fat, and another seems to be tainted with strange poisons that are known to be in troll skin. The only problem is that it's in all parts of the trolls flesh normally, not just certain parts, but the meat and fat is strangely poison-free.
