'Smak' is fine!
Smakemupagus seems like too many syllables for an Olog...

Okay, done.  Smak is a wonderful name for a big dumb orc with a giant steam-powered hammer.

Navatar, you have 57 kills with 30 of them notable. Omega has 62 with 43 notable ones.  For comparison, the unclaimed blademaster ronin has 50 kills with 41 notable ones.  You are falling behind, Nav.

I blame Sha'De, well I would if he stilled breathed.

I am not entirely certain, but the dragon kit still uses [SWORD] for the shooting of its arrows too... so my bow skill does become a slightly moot point really.

Big arse sword and board for me... preferably a combo that allows me to dice and slice quicker then bloody Omega and his spear.

It is in fact bow skill for the ranged attack of Dragon Society kit.
[SKILL:SWORD]
[RANGED:BOW:ARROW]
In the second line, second token is the ranged skill (third token is the ranged ammo class).  In the tutorial fort my Dragon squad were getting rusty with the sword when I left them out of the thick of the fights for too long.

The dragon samurai kit uses bow for the attack skill.  This line defines the skill and ammo used:
[RANGED:BOW:ARROW]
That means you are legendary in both samurai skills.

The only bigger sword you can wield with a shield is a daikatana, which is worse than the dragon kit sword.  I'll keep an eye out for a greatsword, but you can head the samurai squad for now so that you can teach them.  I'll give you all the coolest arrows and try to get you more kills.

Honestly, I think the thing holding you back is that you are clan leader, so you are constantly in meetings.  I think I will appoint a different clan leader to free your time up for bloodier activities.

*edit:
We had a little battle against frogmen, where I almost got myself killed thanks to a tantruming asshat.  Nav and the artifact scimitar now have 22 more notable kills.  I have lots of pictures, and I'll write it and the spring up tomorrow.

Well that sounds about right, more kills for me!

and you learn something new every day, one presumes there is a marked difference in the way the game handles melee and ranged attacks, which allows for the second skill. I may have to delve deeper into the raws and broaden my understanding.

Has the turn list been updated recently? If we have run out of overseers I will happily have another turn at the helm of the fort.

The combat logs for you and the other ronin are ridiculous.  You have six pages of severed body parts flying (mostly torsos and heads), without a single defensive message.  None of them lived long enough to attack you.  Having 5000 strentgh and agility will do that.

I have started the turn order over at the beginning, so you are up after me, unless we get a new person who wants to oversee the fort.

Heya guys. Just wanted to stop lurking and let you know I've been thoroughly enjoying this fort so far.

Go ahead and also put me down for that other Sword Ronin if he's still available as Talth.

Okay, The Ronin blademaster is now named Talth.  I went ahead and played through the summer before writing things up, so it is taking me a bit longer to finish.  I have the pictures edited, but it will still take me awhile to write.

We had a massive elven ambush, but the only casualties were war animals.

Spring, Year 128
Crazy Wolf

Early Spring
No sooner had a the trader concluded our deal with the drow than a tantrumming orc rushed into the depot, waving a bloody dead orc baby around and smashing the building.  The drow were so afraid that they dropped everything and ran.  I guess we will just keep these trade goods for the next caravan.  I got everything I want from the drow, anyway.  I hope they decide to invade us, they seem like worthy opponents, if a little skittish.

Some orcs are still throwing tantrums, but no one is going insane except for one babbling snaga.  Snaga are all a little weird in the head, anyway.

Mid Spring
I finished the red-gold tomb for Sha'De and his daughter, with solid gold coffins for the two of them.  I would have made it bigger, but we only have so many gold weapons to to melt down.  Now I just need to get the peasants to bring his chainaxe to the tomb.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I've started construction on a tower for the dragons, as well as bunkers to place them in to defend the palisades.

A bunch of immigrants arrived, including several warriors and a new sorcerer.  It is nice having orcs around who aren't all pissed off and crazy.  I 'promoted' Talth to head of the sorcerer squad, so that he can teach them to be a little less incompetent in battle.

A giant Olog named Smak was among the immigrants.  I gave him a giant welded wolfram steamhammer, since no one else can actually swing it.  It weighs as much as two orcs, so I gave him one of the suits of welded mithril plate so that he would lumber a bit more quickly.  He has Sha'De's old position as head of the Reavers.  The previous sergeant complained, but I told him to take it up with Smak.  I think he thought better of it.

Late Spring
I need a break from all of these peons.  There are some giant flies buzzing around, and I think I'll go kill a few of them.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Oh well, I'm really fast in this welded mithril armor.  I'll just run back and rally the men.  They will make short work of these puny frogmen.  WHO DESTROYED THE BRIDGE?  And I used up all of my ivy-shards on the flies.  This is not looking good.  Time for a tactical retreat.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Men! Breach the wall and come save your fearless leader!  Luckily my two Ronin are only too happy to break down a wall and massacre some frogmen.  I think they have a bet on who can kill the most.  I don't think that any frogmen got close enough to strike at them before being dismembered.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

But I am still stuck out here with 50 gods-damned frogmen between me and safety and only my incredibly awesome suit of armor to protect me.  I manage to use my superior mobility to reposition myself to safely provide magical support from a safe distance.  I generously leave the glory to the Ronin, who rout them and chase down the cowards before most of the other warriors arrive.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Other warriors provide effective support from the battlements. Our gunners are quite effective with the cannons, though I might want to rethink giving them explosive ammunition.  It is a good thing that none of them went off. The samurai did a lot of damage with the new enchanted arrows I made for them, too.  Maybe I  can convince Nav to use a bow again and let Talth have the scimitar for the next battle.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

The battle was a success; I was saved, which is all that really matters.  We only lost a couple of the new migrants, including the new sorcerer.  Apparently they "never got around" to putting on the armor I assigned them.  Oh well, their loss.

Nav and Talth are both happy with the kills they racked up.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

In even better news, this victory has everyone much happier.  Hopefully no one will try to get me killed again.

Cool. Did you put my chainaxe in a display stand or a stockpile? Also, can you check up on my wife and son?

I'm having your chainaxe delivered to a stockpile in the tomb so I can put it on display, but no one has brought it over yet.  All of the peons are so lazy.

I'm having the same problem with finding your wife and son as with your daughter.  I can't check your relationships now that you are dead.  Could you load a couple of saves back and tell me their names?

...Damnit. I'll try to do it in the morning. They're normal orcs, I know that much.

Nav, do you mind starting your turn at the end of Fall?  I started my turn at the end of last summer, and want to get the new kobold camp started.

DAAAYUUUM.

If he dies in combat, I'd like another Ork. Preferably named "The Ashlord".

he might be around till the end, like HolisticDetective from over in Headshoots.

He finally died when there was nothing else to take and my axeman bled him out trying to steal his guts.
I walked off of the outer wall a few minutes later as the new King. I'm still baffled.
