I'm sorry, but she died fighting the humans alongside her father.  I will create a monument in their honor with the She'De's chainaxe on display.

Late Summer

The troglodytes were no match for our might warriors, and we dispatched the ambush without any trouble.    Unfortunately, I neglected to order the caverns secured, and a second ambush caught one Ronin swordsman alone.  He survived long enough for Navatar and Omega to arrive and dispatch them, but died of his many wounds.

The fort is in need of a massive overhaul.  Many workshops are without stockpiles, and we have novices making our armor while our legendary armorsmiths haul items around.  I have assigned every orc a clear role in the fort: either a specialist, a warrior, or an unskilled peon.

My poor performance during the battle against the humans has inspired me to train myself and the other shamans and upgrade our equipment.  No one dares to point out my weakness after I cursed the last orc to do so for a season, but frailty is the curse of being a dreamwalker.  I can barely move while wearing a suit of armor, and even the runerobe is too heavy.  I have commissioned a suit of welded mithril plate armor for myself.  It is so light that I can barely tell I am wearing it, yet harder than steel.  Given my power and importance, I deserve only the best.  I will create suits for the other shamans once we acquire more of the metal.

I am also taking this opportunity to teach myself and Deep Blue the secrets of several new spells that our raiders acquired, and have ordered our armorers to make the dreamcatchers I have been requesting for the past 2 years.  We had the materials for them just laying around, and the regenerating one should help our warriors recover from their wounds much more quickly.

Early Autumn
I missed the chance to trade with some orc merchants, but they really have little to offer us anyway.

Our Uruk squads have suffered heavy attrition, so I have ordered new immigrants to join their ranks.  Our Uruk warriors are now 15 strong, and should be able to take on any enemies we face.  I have also reviewed and improved their equipment.  The snaga all use great bows now, and I have given Omega a mithril great hunter's spear that we took from a dead elf.  The crystal spear we received from our rites has served him well, but such a low quality weapon is unfit for such a great warrior.

I have also set up training grounds for the shamans, so that we can improve our skills when we have free time.  Lifting weights and practicing with armor should help me overcome our natural weakness.  I've also set up a ball court so that we can practice dodging before we need to dodge an enemy spear.

Late Autumn
Good news! Despite our leader dying we have still been allowed to join the realm.  And I don't have an annoying nobleman to deal with. Win-win!
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

A lame peon had a mood and made an earring.  I might put it on display in the dining hall to keep the others happy.  There has been a sharp increase in tantruming since Sha'De died.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

The imbeciles won't leave the damn cavern.  I've personally checked the entire path, and there is nothing blocking it.  But they are convinced that there is suddenly no way out.  Three of them died of dehydration before I told them that they could drink from the cavern lake.  One boat builder went berserk and had to be put down.

Early Winter
Five different caravans showed up at the same time, and I bought everything worthwhile from them.  The cavern workers still won't leave, so I've begun digging a shaft down to cavern level.

We don't have a thane.  I guess the fort upgrade didn't take.

EDIT* Hopefully the next diplomat will let me propose a different thane.  I'm thinking someone a bit more spiritually pure.

Besides, I'm glad I don't have an ornery nobleman to deal with right now.  I have enough trouble with tantruming badbloods and peons without having to deal with that.  I'm working on building you a small pyramid made entirely of red gold as Sha'De's tomb.

Things are looking shaky. Hows my mental health?  Did I take delight in slaughter recently, which would be kind of wrong, seeing who last feel to my blades.

If only I could ride the dragons...

Who needs quality weaponsmiths anyway, just put the elite of the guard to working in the meadhall to make society weapons. The crafting skill are the corresponding military skill, rather then the generic weaponsmith.

I like the dorm with display cases :D

If you have some orcs with pacifier/consoler skill, you can try is appointing them as extra Shamans.

You are content because of your awesome bedroom, and omega is happy.  Pan is unhappy, though; he lost his mother, father, and two friends so far.

I think things are leveling off.  We are down to 10 miserable orcs.

I'm trying to devise a way to use the dragons for defense without burning everything to ashes.

*edit
It is now late spring and things have stabilized.  I put up an amazing zoo, which everyone seems to love.  There are still frequent tantrums and the occasional tantrum murder, but no one has gone insane in about a month.  I armored all of the important orcs, and most of them seem safe and content.  A migrant wave replaced all of the orcs who died.

Riding the dragons would probably result in being incinerated.

We need weapon  smiths for ammunition and heavy weapons.  Masterwork chain axes are awesome.

Great write-up Impedocles! I bet the problem with the cavern was caused by the hatch we have near the surface. If that thing ever gets locked, say to prevent trogs from getting through, the entire cavern is completely cut off. Too bad I'm sad: can I have a display case with something nice on my pirate ship captain quarters: I think that is my main bedroom. Sweet about finally improving our shamans and armor, so long overdue.

I pimped out your cabin with some more furniture and one of the weapons from your raids, so you and Omega now have a personal palace.  Between that and viewing 11 beautiful buildings, you are now happy.

I'm upgrading the entire military's equipment substantially, not just the dreamwalkers'.  After seeing the results of losing a few orcs, I decided to err on the side of invincibility for the veterans.  That means deep bronze or steel platemail for everyone strong enough to wear it, and welded mithril armor for the rest.

Navatar, what would you like to wield?  I can make you a dragon samurai or blademaster, or equip you with an artifact scimitar.  All of the options are pretty badass, so it is up to you.

*edit:  By the way, would anyone like to be Orc'd again or for the first time?  There are a couple of awesome orcs that are unclaimed:

'Ronin' Taintedfailed the Torturous, Hatchet of Bogs:  A ronin swordsman who is a match for Navatar in everything except for archery.  Likes dragon raptors and has two of them as pets.  Currently wielding an artifact scimitar and teaching our sorcerers how to use their wraithblades.

'Sorcerer' Northerndreadful, Powerful sorcerer who fires agony bladeshards from her wraithblade.  She likes to eat sunshine and eagles, and is fascinated by goblin fortresses.

'Sorcerer' Swayscourged, A newly migrated sorcerer, he is currently learning all of the spells we have available and being trained in combat.  He likes silk moths and elite bloodsteel.

'Olog' Tickrotten, an Olog reaver who wields an enormous welded wolfram steamhammer.  Not too smart, but very agile, strong, and tough.  He is very modest, but doesn't trust others easily.  He likes being outside and crushing the skulls of his enemies.

How about a nice masterwork welded mithril blademaster set... bigger sword. I am guessing that my role is at the forefront of battle chopping things into little bitty pieces so the most effective and damaging melee weapon works for me. Dragon kit is nice enough, but why waste time with crappy arrows when you can just chop the heads of your enemies instead. From memory I am big enough to weld a two-handed weapon in one hand and still use a tower shield right?

and how many kills have I accumulated now?  more then Omega?

I don't think anyone can use the blademaster with a shield, but it is pretty much the deadliest slashing  weapon ever.  On the other hand, the samurai weapons let you use a shield and put your legendary boworc skills to use,  and we have some pretty amazing enchanted arrows, since we are rich enough to buy as many toolkits as we want.

I might make a new blademaster squad under the other ronin.

I'll check your kills when I get home. I know Omega 's old spear  has about 40 kills. I need to display that in your cabin, totoo.
