Remember, my life is paramount!
I tried a little on the job training with Sha'De throughout the winter... He and his axeorc buddy spent all season chasing down the wildlife. I think he racked up 17 kills or so. Created a much needed supply of bones and meat to feed the captured elf.

There are plentiful supplies of most things, except metal. The dwarf slave drunk all the booze and only produced a vast quantity of casserite and sphalerite. Still the goblin tinkerer can use them to give some scrap metal for the mass production of furniture.

What an amazing year! I never thought it possible to build so much in four seasons!  Downloading now.
Creating clay clubs on an infinite loop to go towards weapon raiding kit does feel a little like an exploit. I think I ended up successfully completing on the order of 15 raids a season. I did restrict myself to only raiding from one of the dockyards, the other being their to build boats. With the vast labour pool it is more then possible to do little else but raid... but thats a little cheap in my book.

That was an incredible year and writeup.  I can't believe how much you managed to raid.  The elves won't stand a chance before our might.

I like what you did with the spire.
I would have liked a little more room for Totems, but I didnt want to remove everything you had placed in your first year Imp :)   I did come close to it thou. You did give me a very nice and stable stepping off point, and once the factory came online producing in the order of 2022 bricks for the year, there was plenty of opportunity to build. Especially with 40 or so orcs doing nothing but hauling and building crap.

@smakemupagus - I never did figure out where the weaponkit or ships were stockpiled. I did note that when I got the game of Imp they were being hauled off somewhere. Is there a cheat sheet on the settings used to stockpile stuff? I could never quite get things being moved where I wanted.

Ok: this fort is doing amazing, I can't promise I'll understand or even make heads or tails of the magic workshops, if our sorcerers and shamans have orders for me, they should post them.

My agenda is going to be:
a. cavern hunting outpost
b. pirate ship.

We will see how it goes.

I think you forgot
a. Survival, as I imagine the sieges this year will get bigger.

I did think of going down to the caverns, but then my stockpiles would start growing crap :)  The amount of booze required to fund the raids is excessive, perhaps plundering the caverns with some good herbalists might be worth the trek.

most things are tools and can be organized by material

blueprints are all marble
captives are all tin
dreamwalker stuff are all silver (codex/mojo) or gabbro (dream shards)
weapon codexes are steel
weapon kits / longboats are whatever you made them from

I have no idea where clay weapons are stockpiled.  As you guys alluded to, mass producing clay weapons for raider was never really intended, so I never really thought about it too much, but I'm a bit surprised that they aren't in the weapons pile.

(INORGANIC and METAL are synonyms in the raws, so in order to disable stone weapons being used at the raid dock I would need to coordinate with Meph to ask him to add a REACTION_CLASS to every weapons grade metal ... i dunno whether I think this is worth it, or just leave it to the player to decide.  It is also relatively easy in most forts to mass produce copper daggers or silver clubs at the factory, although that at least costs fuel, and in your no-mining challenge might have been tough!)

>>  The amount of booze required to fund the raids is excessive

I was wondering what you were selling enough of to the freelancers to fund all that raiding :)

A pirate ship in the bay is an awesome idea.  Watch out, though.  The area over the water has a terrifying biome.  I know it rains kobold blood there, and I'm not sure what other weather it could have.  You might want to access it by drawbridge: you may end up with a ship crewed by the damned.

You should make us druids some magical bullets.  You create ivy runebolts at the arcane forge and then enchant them at the stone circle and equip them like any other ammo.  I want the wasp hive variety, but the polymorph ones look really cool, too.  We also have a wraithblade for the sorcerer, which uses blade shards from the arcane forge.  You enchant those at the altar of storms.

You should also make a few dreamcatchers for us if you have the materials.  They take 1 orichalcum and 2 gems (sapphires, rubies, emeralds, or diamonds) that you can get from merchant ships.  We might already have what we need.  You equip them as shields, and the druids use them automatically.

Lastly, we got some spell mojos from raiding the drow.  Each of those can be used to teach one of the spell-casters a spell permanently at one of the magic buildings.  I would like to learn the "tarot" and "consume souls" spells.

Once you do that, you can just use the druids as really powerful but fragile ranged troops.  You might want to find a way to train their combat skills and attributes up.  In the past, I've set up some weight training sets and murderball courts for my spellcasters.

We might want to start using metal weapons for raids, to slow down the lightning-fast advancement we had this year.  The sieges bring quite a few of weapons and we can buy more from caravans.

The caverns are already open: the cave goes down to the first cavern.  It isn't connected to the second or third, though.  I don't know what exactly triggers the cavern plants growing, though.

@smakemupagus
>> most things are tools and can be organized by material

I think for some reason I had made a toys stockpile... not a tools stockpile. Just tried it on my copy of the save and it seems to work fine now.

>>I have no idea where clay weapons are stockpiled.  As you guys alluded to, mass producing clay weapons for raider was never really intended, so I never really thought about it too much, but I'm a bit surprised that they aren't in the weapons pile.

They don't seem to stockpile at all. I simply worked around it by having the weapons made next to the Drydock and once there was 20 or 30 of them had my corsair bundle them into raiding gear. I did loose more then a few weapons retrieved from previous raids that way thou... I do find the raiding system to be a little easy for the kind of returns you get. Might have a think and comment on the more appropriate forum for that thou.

One plant stack [1 to 5] = 5 to 25 booze = 5000 to 25000 iron coins = 1 raid... So by using most of the farms output for booze to sell, you can raid a lot.  Hell even buying booze from the merchants to sell back to them nets you a very quick profit if you can be bothered.

So I'm through to winter, and we had quite a bit of excitement (I took many screenshots), but now we have a bit of a traffic jam:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
I'm even starting to lag from how many items are on the map. This kind of things calls for a cleansing fire, but how...

Any suggestions for dealing with it?

EDIT: tearing down the palisade helped.

Oh, yeah, that's way imba compared to other ways to get coins.
Enjoy it while it lasts :D

Well I am done with my year.I will post a huge write-up tomorrow night.

It was fairly eventful: one siege, two ambushes, a titan and lots of troglodyte drama. We appear to be working our way to a full suit of artifact armaments: bloodsteel scimitar, leather shield, and I contribute a mithril helm. We also have an artifact crown and sceptre for the orcish khan.

I completely ignored our spellcasters, outside of teaching Crazy Wolf to read the somnium cards, as requested. Made some waspbolts, but didn't see them in use. I tried to make dreamcatchers, but failed utterly. Same went for my attempts to make our guild into Sea Wolves.

I did however build us our very first well and appoint our very first bookkeeper and manager to their newly designated offices. I realize this is rather unorclike, but giving bulk commands is just too convenient to pass up.

I raided one human village and one dwarf hold, nearly got Navatar killed (Sha'de and his chainaxe helped), married Omega and built a big damn pirate ship. Omega and I claim the cabin quarters:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

The hull is wooden, the floors are fungi boards, the trimming and masts are made of bone, the ram is bloodsteel. The sails are crimson bricks sailcloth.

I am disappointed. I will be forced to refit it with steeloak logs. I may also build myself a house from them.

I may have forgotten to mention it... but yeah, building the meadhall in the only place it would fit, might have sort of broken the pathing to the trade depot. I had meant to move it, but kept on forgetting.

Nice ship, good to see you picked the orc with the biggest spear to shack up with Pan :) I do like the effect of the kobold blood washing the deck of the ship.

nearly got Navatar killed (Sha'de and his chainaxe helped)

You didn't try hard enough :)  Good thing Sha'De trained up on killing animals...

Yes, I like it a lot, too. :)  But it should be bigger, or have a bigger one next to it, which includes the raiders drydock. Build a ship, build the drydocks in the ship, to send your ships on raids :)

I just wanted to leave this here, because it is intended for succession forts, but either people think its silly, or they dont know that it can be done. Its a feature I made for succession forts, but seemingly no one every uses it. So, please excuse me spamming this in the masterwork-related succession fort threads.

You can build the category titles in the workshop/furnace menu as an actual workshop. It will spell out the name. Thats all. Intended for labeling areas ingame, to make it easier on the next overseer. Or as decoration.
