Also, is the platinum cap I found worth any good? Since caps cover hits only 50% of the time, I know it won't matter in the end anyway.
MF manual comes with a metal quality table. According to it, platinum is on par with silver when used for armour. It's also better than copper but worse than rusty iron.

About the metal table, are you referring to the "Inorganic Materials" section in the general manual? Because I didn't find platinum in there.

Yes, open the "Inorganic Materials" section. There's a header called "Metal Guide" and, below it "Click on the 4 links to open a table with all included metals"

Thanks everybody for the help.
The new question is, how do I make knives/daggers for Vipers? Aren't they a Kobold native weapon? The only ones I've found so far are the ones made of ice and glass. Can I extract Viper-Sign Kobold's venom?

Is diplomacy still tanning for Kobolds?  Wondering why all the embark options have many points assigned to it. 

Same question with what skill slings are meant for.  Hunter embark has them all as lashers but in raws I see the slings as pike skill.

Aye diplomacy is needed to construct the tanners shop but I believe leather-working is used for the actual tanning.

Anyway, when Meph gets over some issues (overcoming the bone stack bug, giving proper head protection...) and releases a new patch, who's in for a succession camp?

Ok, for others confused as I was.... I am 90% sure that pike skill (labeled gunner in therapist) is the slinger skill for Kobolds. Lashers don't seem to do anything with slinging (melee uses sling skill), but one could argue that slings and bolas in melee are pretty much whips/lashers effectively, and could use that skill. (Maybe that is future intention or previous setup, not sure, just starting with kobolds).

When Kobolds go underground, they get a (grey, presumably negative) thought, "choked on dust underground". I just wanted to know, how bad is that thought?

Ok, I never tried so... what are the advantages of upheaving animals? Beside of course having a slice of population doing nothing but wandering in your meeting halls, throwing parties and getting elected as nobles?

No custom starting or liaison screens for kobolds? It says dwarfs and moutainhomes.

Can make glue from spore trees but cannot farm them? So the only source of glue is horns/hoofs? And why would I make glue from spore trees? The only use I can see kobolds have for glue is to make plywood. It takes 1 wood to make glue to make 1 wood?

Why do kobolds have book crates? They don't get libraries, they can't read them.

Glue can also pressed from bloated tubers, if my manager isn't lying.
Also: Why can't we make 4 generic wooden planks at the sawmill anymore? Why don't I find the reaction to make plywood? Why do Niths murder my people? Shantytowns are made of plywood, where did the shantypeople get all that glue? Is there no solution to Smooth Logs being cut into Smooth Logs all over and over and over again?
