Interesting idea. An all biome-plant that is exclusively mafe in a workshop. Doesnt sound too dwarvish, but would suit elves. :)

When you think about it, there's plenty of real world fears about not being able to stop genetically modified crops from getting out into the wild. I like the idea of affecting the rest of the world, especially with the living world in the next update. I wonder what happens if the warlocks have a spell that stops all plants from growing globally...

The glacial moss idea makes me think of breaking down plant matter into an all purpose gloop and reconstituting it into new plants.

Thanks for the script, farmed crystal wood will go great in my glass and gem fort.

Say, what does one need for air mage training? I have candles, gems, silk thread, and about several 1000s of leather of all types, padded, tough, scaleplate, chitinplate, etc etc, yet I still can't initiate the reaction. At one point the reaction was available and the dude gathered the stuff then stopped while I didn't notice so I don't know why. All the reagents are still at the stormtempest altar, they aren't being moved since the stockpile is full.
What does "LEATHER_EXOTIC tanned hide" mean?

Also, what's the danger associated with mining living stone? The manual mentions a "nasty surprise" yet I've mined a lot of this stuff without anything happening...

@MerkerBenson: Several thoughts:
- sometimes the dwarfs/reactions can't find components if they're *not* in a pile
- sometimes the reactions won't recognize components if they're in bins
- sometimes components are temporarily not available if a reaction / workshop build is cancelled
- training takes time - your beard may have already started it.  If he has, he will not appear in your 'u'nits list until he's done.

I sent a dwarf to go and perform at the tavern (which rather predictably happened to be my baron) and someone destroyed the tavern while he was performing (trying to prevent tantruming dwarfs). Will he still transform back and be a functional dwarf after the month is up or is he doomed to forever play his horn?

@urmane, thanks, I just built more reagents and it eventually became available before the haulers took it...somewhere. The arcane dwarf is still too lazy even after I've restricted him to the mage burrow....

Anyone have any idea why my dwarfs are doing things they're not assigned to do? A siege just showed up and one of my actually competent armorers was outside building one of the spotting towers WITHOUT any building jobs enabled...as well as my scribe....both of them only have their profession jobs enabled, no hauling, no building. This is not the first time this has happened....And all the outside items have been forbidden so no reason for him to take anything from the outside world when he has 1000s of bars right next to his shop...

No break, he was just doing some job not assigned to him, oh well, guess I'll have to make some doors for his workshop, since the lucky smacker dodged 50 bullets shot at him, eagles, berzerking automatons and made it back inside :D

Anyway, one of my dwarfs crafted a 1.25 million worth "perfect amethyst" out of 60 gems, in which reactions is it used in?

I am working towards making a lich, are the corpses reanimated by the lich friendly or hostile?

What's a perfect amethyst good for? And are the bone golems made by a lich friendly? In the arena both the big bone golem and the mini golems fight the lich and each other....

Bone golems made by the lich keep their allegience from before death.  So a bone golem made from a goblin will be hostile.  A bone golem from a pet or dwarf or ally race should be friendly.

I had a Lich child once wich was extremely hard to control. I used to dump friendly corpses in his quarters. The per golems helped kill the enemy golems he made whenever someone hauled an enemy close to him. I also had to station warbeast and bonegolems all around my fortress just to be sure no civilians got killed.

And note that neutral golems like those from caravan traders will just hanga around the area of their ressurection and you wont be able to pasture them. I ended up with 4 neutral golems standing in my refuse stockpile. They served as guards whenever the lich child got in there and ressurected something new.
