Kind of a dumb question, but how exactly do I get the inactive golems up and running all responsive and murdering? I may have missed that in the manual but still. Just purchased two and I'd like to know how to get them ready for battle before I set them on guard duty.

You need to build a Volcanic Golemforge to activate bought Golems. 4 Blocks, 1 Anvil, 1 Golem Heart, 1 Scientific Discovery and magma for fuel.

Apologies if this has been answered elsewhere, but I've searched and searched and can't find an answer: The expedition outfitter worked to begin with, constructing a caravan for me. Little bit later, I decide to try again, but even though I have my crafts and my wagon, it won't let me create a caravan. Same thing for everything else. The reagents are fully available and accessible, so I just don't understand what I could be doing wrong.

EDIT: semi-solved, I built another wagon and it registered once placed into the job manager for some reason. Going to try with the equip an expedition reaction too.

Tyreal: Burrows bug, see the known bugs in the manual.

BoffoDorf: Correct.

Splint: Mind that inactive golems still fight... they just dont move from the spot, but invaders will come to them and die just as readily. ;)

Arkenor: newest version shouldnt have a problem with honey being registered as poison.

It at least doesnt make golems useless... the entire thing with active and inactive was done to stop migrants from bringing free golems. Because the inactive golems are immobile, they are not brought as pets, and because active golems are pet_exotic. That way you can still trade for golems, but migrants keep their hands off them.

I was more referring to the "where's the fun in sticking them somewhere they'll just be decorative." I'm running on a slightly older version, so I guess i should ask what I need to get them ambulatory so they aren't just statues.

They are fighting statues. ;)

The golemforge, which needs magma to run is the place you are  looking for.

There is no progress to check, its just a 3% success rate, so on average its 33 tries to get it. in theory, if you are very lucky, you get 5 research success after 5 tries.

Yes, each bonus only once.

You get an announcement. Would be best to note it down somewhere, otherwise you play the fort a week later and forgot about it. ;)

Candles or Candelabras? Candles should be craftsdwarf, tallow or wax, candelabras are craftsdwarf, bonecutter, gemcutter, stonecutter... or forge. ;)

Saw the burrows bug, but I don't have any burrows set up (island embark, very little need for them). Seems to be a bit on and off; sometimes the reactions will work, other times I'll have to put it into the manager for it to work.
