morhavok, if you know that it is crashing at the EXACT same point every time, quicksave prior to the crash, and keep reloading and quick saving a little bit closer to the crash. Keep doing that, and eventually, you will get past the crash.

I'm having issues with magic.  My earthkin is extremely slow, and when I try to have him continue in the school of earth magic, he'll gather the reagents, compete the job, the announcement pops up, then nothing.  He just walks off, still earthkin.

cptcrunchy, that sounds similar to the problem that myself and Thormgrim are having. Our dwarves are becoming inactive for the month or so to "train" with the guild, and at the end, just transform back into regular dwarves. Have you been able to successfully guild any other dwarves? If yes, then your problem might be a problem i was having a long time ago when trying to get my earth mage lvl 2, to transform into a lvl 3. His earth shield kept going off, and BLOCKING the transformation blast, or he would dodge it. Check the combat logs. (if it is either of those errors, then i have no friggin clue as to what can be done to get past)

I don't have access tot he military screen anymore....
when i press M it opens a weird overview over my stuff but the military screen is gone...
help? oO

Check keybindings?

What exactly is the overview? Is it the room overview (R by default)? DFHack also adds an 'enhanced view' to the stocks menu, although I don't think this can be accessed outside of the default stocks menu itself.

I'd like to throw my hat in the ring for the "odd stone (Adamantine (not raw), Runic, Paralyzing, Magma) stone bugs.

I ran into this recently and had TONS of Adamantine (but it was not "Raw Adamantine" - just "Adamantine") and could do nothing with it.

To attempt to fix the trouble...

I am going to extract to a completely new folder.
Launch the game before adjusting any options.
Exit the game.
Change the tileset to Phoebus.

Relaunch & generate a Mandelbrot world (I like all the volcanos & varying minerals/ores this one produces - also some kick ass embarks).

I will update if I have any luck - seems to be a consistent bug across 2 systems so far.

EDIT:

That seems to have worked.  The new world does not have any Adamantine (where it shouldn't be, I know where the real stuff is) Paralyzing, Runic, Magma Stones... though I have not adjusted any of the settings for Masterwork (I think everyone has their own they like... part of the beauty of the mod IMO).

I am changing the following & generating another Mandelbrot world:

Population Cap - 150
Child/Baby Cap - 1:1000
Diggig Stop - ON
Tileset - Phoebus (with colorset)
TTF - ON (did not change, default)
Windowed - Yes
Civilizations Changes - Warlocks NOT ACTIVE, NOT Playable Fortress, NOT PLAYABLE Adventure
Furnaces - Turned off Slag Pit
Misc Features - Aquifers - NO
Misc Featuers - Harder Mining - NO
Misc Features - Harder Learning - NO
Misc Features - Secret !FUN! - NO
Misc Features - Diseases - NO
Misc Features - Tree Variety - NO
Misc Featuers - Plant Variety - NO
Misc Features - Food Variety - NO
Misc Features - Fear the Night - NO

That's all the options I adjusted - Will update again with results in case someone else runs into this.

UPDATE:

Adjusting that set of options appears to have reproduced the bug.

Links to images are from the 2nd Region that was generated after making these changes.

(adamantine) http://i.imgur.com/btkaURu.png
(paralyzing) http://i.imgur.com/6z6cPsv.png

So... I would assume it's something I changed in those options.

Anyone have any ideas where to start (I'm not a veteran of the inner workings of DF/MDF)?

anything suspicious in the error log? does this happen with every tileset, or just phoebus?

Hey splinterz!

Thank you for your work in the DF community, I've used your tools countless times & they are life savers!

Where could I review these logs?

I am not sure if it's the tileset - I generated both Region1 and Region2 using the Phoebus tilset.

EDIT:  (I need to look myself before asking questions I guess)

it's already great that you've discovered a way to reproduce it. if you can upload a save, that would be fantastic, otherwise i'll use the method you've described to try and reproduce it myself. the error log's inorganic errors are very concerning, especially the duplicate warnings, those often cause the kinds of weird materials you've described.

after some testing, there's definitely something weird going on. toggling the slag pit is creating duplicate inorganics in [inorganic_mineral.txt]. some of the other options are probably what are causing the other inorganic error messages in the log. i'll see if i can sort it out.

Fantastic - I'll have to upload them when I get home later today.  Had to head in to work.

Gonna be a little later tonight most likely.

no need for the save, i was able to reproduce it with your steps.

what's breaking the raws is changing (some) options after changing a tileset. until i can get a fix out, a workaround to the issue is to either:
- change the tileset, restart the settings GUI, and then set any other non-tileset options
- set all your non-tileset options first and choose the tileset as the very last change

cptcrunchy, that sounds similar to the problem that myself and Thormgrim are having. (if it is either of those errors, then i have no friggin clue as to what can be done to get past)

I have been able to successfully make all varieties of priests, some legionnaires and a couple arcane dwarves, I think you're onto something with the earth shield.  I'm testing out the other varieties of magic dwarves now, I'll check out guilds too.

Awesome - I will give this a shot tonight & update.

Thanks a lot for all your help.  Really appreciate it!  ')

I seem to be interrupting some other problems - the tileset one I have no idea, but I've experienced the earth shield thing myself, although I had no idea what that did at the time. It's obvious in retrospect - so I'm willing to be patient.

I keep getting pig tail leaves showing up in my kitchen screen, just like quarry bush leaves. I can't find anything about 'leaves' or 'leaf' in this forum/topic, but I don't think it's just me. It's not like I've changed anything from 'vanilla' Masterwork

Is this by design? I've been pretty much ignoring quarry bushes in my last few forts, because I can't afford to put the reaction on repeat and waste pig tails.

Also, in a similar vein (can't find anything in the forum) What's up with glazes? I can't find anything about glazing. I've been trying out pottery in my last few forts (I still consider myself in the testing-out-optimal-design phase, rather than the looking-for-a-challenge one, so I'm still trying out industries I haven't really fully delved into) and can't find a reaction anywhere. Not in the kiln, the clay oven, the millstone, the quern; nothing produces glazes. I admit I haven't gotten around to setting up a millstone with a healthy bone industry - The one time I bothered to power a millstone, that fort used all of its bone for javelins. So if it requires bones - which it shouldn't, according to the manual and the wiki - that would be the gaping hole in my experience.

It's kinda sad 'cause I'm already pretty impressed with the value of Porcelain goods, and would love to have a secondary industry to make them even better. I got lazy last game and started trading off prepared meal barrels, which I consider kinda cheap :P I've just weaned myself off of the liquids plugin and started using magmalings, so its a step down for me.

...speaking of prepared meals, are they not supposed to show up in the trade menu as individual items? I just had the barrels, no contents, although the barrels were clearly worth the amount inside them.

I don't have any games to show. I tend to restart forts a lot when I notice something I could have done better, and regularly clean out my save folder when I feel like starting fresh.
