The ore processor uses the machine operator labour. Whenever I have a dwarf (or orc) with this labour on, it has worked fine for me. Have you checked your stockpile links are set up correctly?

This has worked for me in past versions of masterwork, but for some reason it is not working in 4c.

To test this I am embarking with random bearing rocks in the wagon, enabling all labors on my guys, making a mason, mechanic and ore processor, all drawing their crap from the wagon fine. Then I am adding my process jobs and they are not being done.

Sometimes I will set up stone stockpiles and stuff, but that has never changed anything.

Try the manager. It might be that you stockpile the ore outside the burrow that includes the ore processor, or vice versa.

The familiar transform spells have [IT_REQUIRES:SUPERNATURAL] and changelings do not have that tag.
Yes, I know. Its fixed in my dev version, but thanks for the report nontheless. :)

Also does its bite really do nothing?

My guys will not make soap and I have no idea why.


Labor is enabled.
I have a soap shop.
I have lye and tallow.
I even have extra ash, empty buckets, and barrels.

Any ideas?  Thank you!!

Nope; but it might be related to the making soap reaction not showing up in the chemistry lab, which it is supposed to (and did in a previous version)

I tried a new world with chemists option NO but the soap maker option set to YES. Still didnt work.

Im at a loss.

The soapmaker is the normal, vanilla workshop, and the reactions are the very same. Are you seeing them in the menu, when you select the soapmaker? The skill is the chemist skill.

Well, you got the workshop, you got the reactions, and you got the right skill active. You seem to have all the ingredients, and the reaction is green...

Check your burrows, if the reagents are stored outside the burrow that the soapmaker is in (or the other way around, the workshop is in the burrow, the reagents are not), then it wont work. Even if the burrow is not active.

If thats not the case, try razing your soapmaker, and build a new one, closer to the reagents. I got some odd reports, that that sometimes helps, because DF couldnt find the reagents.

Try the manager, instead of the workshop. Try workflow, if that suits you better. Other then this, I dont know... if you really want me to have a look, upload a save with the problem and I give it a go.

Thanks again.  I have no burrows or anything set up. I have added some cheat reactions but I am not using any of them for this. Just regular old soap making.

I download phoebus 34.11_01 with DF install just to check it and same issue. Well they will not even build the soap makers shop at all.

I think its related to DT...not turning on the labor. Not sure about that.

Soap making is always twitchy.  Make sure you have plenty of all of the reagents, in their own piles if necessary, and make sure they're not being swiped for other things - for instance, a Sawmill will automatically consume all oil for polished logs and none of it will go to a soap job.  Soap is always the last thing I can get a good stock of.

Ambassador or diplomacy (vanilla soap making) appears to be missing from the labor list in Dwarf Therapist. If I add the labors NO SPACERS tab i can view it there.
