They must be distinguished. Let them make a masterwork item - after that they get an netry in the legends and can be assigned to military.

It should. They should kill somebody or make a masterwork item, this makes them a person from the point of view of DF.

Masterwork items are the ones with suns; these are artifacts and completely different.

Are air line mages supposed to be able to fly? A level 3 skymage came as a migrant, but the whole wave was ambushed and I had to close the gates for safety. In the manual, it says level 2 and 3 air mages should be able to fly. Is it a random chance spell that gives them this ability or is it bugged or something? They don't have the flying tag in the raws, so I just wanted to see how it was implemented.

Interactions can't give the ability to fly, so if they don't have a flying tag, they can't.

SYndrome can:) Make interaction to give syndrome to give [FLIER] tag.

My orc fort managed to survive a dwarven siege, and of course we're now in the process of making the skulls of the fallen into totems.

However it seems that the base value of a dwarf-skull totem is incredible. I have a '+Farmers Guild Dwarf Skull Totem+' worth 21,870☼, and even a basic 'Dwarf Skull Totem' is worth 7,290☼.

While this is rather cool, a common human or elf skull is worth maybe 10-20☼, whereas a dwarven skull is worth more than most of my camp's artifacts.

I'm guessing the base value for dwarven body parts is set crazy-high somewhere, but I can't for the life of me find out where it is. Pointers appreciated. :)

I think I know what happened.

The mage castes have:
   [SELECT_MATERIAL:ALL]
      [MULTIPLY_VALUE:3]

Material value is seemingly on creature level, not caste level, so dwarven materials have x3, for every mage caste. There are 18 mages...

7290☼ is exactly 3^6 times larger than basic 10☼...

In that case I assume that 6 castes have this addition.  ;)

In this case i think this [MULTIPLY_VALUE] should be deleted. Mages would have to just assume they have same bones as others:)

Yup, six MULTIPLY_VALUE:3 tokens. From a glance it appears they're all in disabled water mage castes.

I've patched all the relevant creature_standard files in my patch thread. Thank you so much for your help!

Using spacefox in 4b the tile used for a designated down-staircase is black, making them impossible to see, and !!fun!! when my miners start digging out something I'd forgotten I'd designated long ago. :)  Un-mined cave fungus is also black, making it similarly impossible to see.

Unfortunately I'm a tile n00b, so I don't know how to fix these yet. (Or even if tile colour fixes can be applied to a save-game.)
